How does Worgen armor and clothes stay on them as they transform?

Not to be that guy but this always bothered me. Is it just an in game thing? In the lore does the transformation tear all this stuff off? Is special armor made specifically for worgens in their worgen form?

i assume worgen get their clothes from the same place the hulk gets his pants XD

serious response: i think they just wear clothes designed to stretch a bit more then normal. armor plates are still going to protect roughly the same areas so as long as the clothes don’t rip outright they are probably fine. the females dont really change size too much anyway.

Don’t quote me here since it’s been a while since I actually did the whole worgen starter area. But I believe it’s part of something Krennan Aranas does at the end of the whole experience at Ru’theran? Like I said it’s been a while.

That aside, I treat it kind of like werewolves in Werewolf: The Apocalypse. Where they basically have a rite put on them that allows the garou to not lose their clothes everytime they shift in and out of the various forms. In this case for WoW. It just makes the clothes adjust.

I don’t think there’s any hard canonical answer. I assume most people would default to the generic and often dismissive excuse of ‘magic’; and despite my naked bias against that response normally I think it actually has significant merit here to an extent. With the Worgen Curse having roots in Druidic shapeshifting it arguably makes sense that a similar magical phenomenon could and would occur when a Worgen changes forms.

Personally I use a headcanon entailing Worgen commonly using specially enchanted clothing or clothing specifically tailored to the form they favor and just not shifting. My main Worgen character does both.

As an aside I’m not entirely sure if the clothes issue is even acknowledged in universe. There may be something about it in one of the books or comics but I wouldn’t know. As far as I’m concerned it’s just a mechanical thing we’re all trying to give in-universe meaning to.

They buy from the same tailor that makes the Hulk’s pants.

But seriously there’s not really an answer. Presumably they use very flexible material.

I RP my worgen as going to a leatherworker who makes the clothing with a little wiggle room - like a folded ‘flap’ of extra material kept in place by whatever the WoW universe equivalent of velcro is, so when she shifts it breaks the ‘velcro’ seal and boom, more room.

In “Ironman Armored Adventures” when the Hulk transforms into Bruce Banner his complete set of clothes, even glasses come back with him.

Worgens are essentially partial Druids. Think of their shapeshifting operating the same way as Druid shapeshfiting does.

I also use the idea of “magic”. There seems to be a lot of just “casual” or common magic in the universe (Well, until it because more plot relevant to not have it.)

That I don’t think it would be that hard of a stretch to think that Gilneans who like shifting back and forth a lot would put in the gold to get enchanted clothes.

Also, there could be a lot who have their preferred form, or like their wild side being “free”, or those who just tailor their clothes to have enough space for their other form. Etc.

Totally have not gone deep into this idea in my fan fiction which is why I’ve gone as far as to know both my worgen ladies clothing.

I’ve just chalked it up to game mechanics. Why make clothes look tight in one form and baggy in the other? Everything is skin tight already.
I’ve read somewhere that some wear shoes that flip open when changing forms, hence why they have shoes as human and the shin guards as worgen.
Otherwise? Yeah, could go with the “got it from the Hulk’s clothier” excuse, too.

Aye as a Dwarf whos grown up around druids, I can say there be magic surrounding them there Worgen. Ye may nae like it but it be the truth. Be them transforming to and from the wee pup ta ‘em human form, ‘r ta them other Druid forms. Ya big ol’ bear, or wee kitty. Ya cloths got ta go somewhere, aye? It is all but an illusion anyway. I’ve nae ever seen a teddy bear wit’ cloths on. Seen a few wit’ armor though.
