How does Warrior fare in World PVP?

Title, but I am considering Druid or Warrior so I can tank; so that my friends and I can group together easily. I don’t care if warriors level slow, however, I don’t want to constantly lose in world pvp and get kited by everyone- dying constantly if I happen to be playing alone for the day.

Anyone have experience on a p. server that can shed some light on warrior world pvp?

It’s rough out there. Ideally, you buddy up with a healer.

One suggestion would be to play a tauren for a smaller deadzone on intercept.

I played a NE warrior on Skullcrusher (PvP). Let’s just say I used Shadowmeld a lot…

Solo: You get wrecked.

Pocket healer: GG everyone trying to fight you.

As a warrior you are a free kill to everyone in wpvp. Warrior is only half a class in Classic. Without a second player as a pocket healer you will die to two green mobs or any player within 10 levels.

Some of my warrior friends bragged about killing enemy faction around same level.
Wpvp is situational purely, you can win or lose no matter what.
If you are going to go the route of warrior in wpvp then be sure to get dungeon gear and beast weapon from quests like wirl wind axe or av polerarm when it comes out.

I have never played ap server, but I did wpvp with warriors while leveling and they had no healers so they fared better with a range dps.

They’re usually really bad 1 on 1 so…it’s troublesome. Course you can just run dungeons or something.

Don’t do it without a friend. I level alts or crafting when my healer is offline…

warriors suck and need engineering/gimmick items to consistently win PvP engagements against equivalently skilled/geared opponents.

your best opportunity in winning engagements comes from initiating the fight, if you get jumped–outside of rogue fights–you’ll likely lose.

that being said, if you’re into gimmicks and consumables you can start metagaming world pvp and change many matchups to your favor well before you hit contested areas. that’s a lot of work for most people though.

Do you enjoy dying? Then they’re great!

Mmmmm… warrior fare. I picture a big steak and baked potato with cornbread

Warrior is not very good at soloing unless you want to guzzle potions regularly. Engineering can help. Ever reflect a frostbolt back to a mage’s face? It’s a good feeling.

If the warrior has good gear for their level (blues and a good weapon), then they do well against rogues, priests, warriors of lesser gear, mediocre druids, warlocks, and paladins with LOH on cooldown. You might as well /sit against hunters and mages, they will destroy you.

They are bad in 1v1 but if you are good you can make it work.

Usually pretty bad if you get jumped. Even if you don’t get jumped it’s usually pretty bad. Occasionally you have a good 2h and you can smack people around but…don’t count on it.

If you actually get a charge off you have a decent chance against some classes. Other classes, like mage or warlock, will kill you pretty much no matter what.

With warriors, it’s all about gear. Another thing to consider while leveling is that people have to return to a city to train their abilities.

I’m not saying you should twink, but keeping up with things gives you the best starting point you can have for wpvp.

Same. I used shadowmeld right when I would respawn behind a tree.

The problem is, there will be more warriors than healers; especially while leveling. I mean, the problem for you.

For the rest of us, it is good news

Solo warriors are excellent in world pvp provided they:

  • have engineering
  • have several free action potions with them at all times
  • keep their gear up to snuff
  • are skilled

Don’t let players get off an initial pyroblast or aimed shot, it’s tough to recover.
