How does shammy handle the Writhing Ooze boss in Torghast? How can we make this fight easier? I’m Elemental.
I got lucky and used the “kill mawlrat for extra life” buff. By the time I got to boss, I had double HP, popped everything and tank n’ spanked
Have tried doing it as resto? I was struggling until I just changed spec

I been hearing that. How is resto so good in Torghast?
I believe the health of mobs goes down significantly. Speculation, not 100% sure. Did layer 3 in both first attempt with ilev of 155ish
I did it last night as elemental. I tried doing the ‘nuke the boss’ strategy and even with my earth elemental I couldn’t down him fast enough. After 3 deaths I found it worked to take a slower approach and I focused down the adds as they spawned. Fewer explosions meant I was able to keep my elemental alive until he timed out and then I popped my fire elemental and face tanked him the rest of the way down.

Easy? Just use earth ele. If ele tends to die fast swap to the talent in which elementals become stronger. I did this along with stacking healing stream totem buff, healing near totems, and the power that drops a random totem when placing a totem.
This kinda allowed me to just heal earth ele by using totems alone while I was able to do dps.

(as resto) I just finished T3 this morning and with elemental & bloodlust I was able to power through that ooze. I’d picked up some serious lightning bonus damage and the one that lets you swap between chain lightning and chain heal as instant casts so I was able to take out the adds while topping off my health bar at the same time.
Go resto. Seriously.

The earth elemental cd reduction - each gray reduction is a WHOLE minute, yay!
Couple it with the perma earthquake and you have a perma earth elemental earthquake by your side “nice”
Rat spice if you can grab early!
Lighting bolt damage increase.
Any totem heal increase to combo heals.
Last but not least, use your super luxurious burst to melt everything!
Oh and take your time. Clear everything, helps a lot.

This. Last night I got the perma-earth elemental + earthquake and entire floors just melted. I will admit that I died once but only because I got cocky and pulled (literally) about 25 mobs and the boss at the same time.
The 25 mobs by themselves would not have been an issue.
Mobs in Torghast scale down for the first tank and the first healer spec in the group (so two tanks only benefit from the scaling once, as do two healers), but if you’re just running as a tank or a healer, you’re facing mobs that are scaled for solo play, scaled down.
I waited for the first split to drop the earth elemental, then I popped all my cooldowns and focused down the main blob. But yeah, it probably would have been much less effort just going resto.
