I should stayed Surv hunter. I at less can kill and stay alive. As Ret, I’m just running around as a headless chicken.
Now I remember why I stop playing my paladin. rip.

There is nothing wrong with ret.
There’s a lot wrong with ret but it really depends of what kind of content OP is talking about. If it’s world quests, well, anything can be good. It’s mediocre in raids and m+ but rather good in horrific visions.
It’s mediocre but cancer to play in pvp against semi competent people.

I feel I’m lacking in Dungeons and Pve. PvP I feel useless. But horrific visions I fail hard…
With Surv I could do everything and be find. With Ret I have pop everything and hope they worst then I am or I get lucky.
I just came back to Ret as I want to play it and go back to basics. As I play Ret, I’m remembering why I stopped. Ret damage while can but strong is all over the place with procs and rng. Aoe is weak. They slow in both movement and combat.
Yes, my gear is little under par but even so I had these feelings before.
Sucks as I like Ret. Over lets say Warrior, a class I hate playing. I like being a Knight in shining armor, you know. 
This is a gear/talent/probable bad gameplay problem, go read a wowhead or icyveins guide and reassess yourself.

Up your haste a bit and take Inq, you might find it a little easier
You missed the entire point… grats. The OP isn’t talking tuning or balance, he’s claiming he can’t kill stuff and stay alive, which is a complete learn to play issue. Unless you’d like to add your name as someone else who can’t manage to kill mobs as ret without running around as a headless chicken.

Been playing Ret for less than a month. I don’t see a problem. It is way more survivable than my Arms War.
There are a few times where it feels a little slow and I need to use survival CDs. The rest of the time it destroys things.
Maybe you aren’t building Holy Power and using it?

I did say my gear was sub par but I stop playing my paladin start of bfa, after I grind reps. Having played it most of Legion. Then tried again back in 8.1 ish. I stop as said above.
In pvp “bgs and epics” I to scared to attack anything or leave my healers. My Surv, I was fearless. In pve I most time then not have to pop everything to to get though it.
I also can’t decide on talents to use. Mostly I use Zeal, AoW and Inquisition “If I remember to use it” just so I can attack more. But I’ve been trying to use other talent and see if they work better. lol
I bet it a learn to play thing. As a surv hunter as said I was fearless. Ret I have to think what will happen in said fight. Maybe I can’t play classes that have builders. I’m super bad with warriors as I hated rage system. Hunter start at max energy and auto refill too. I am and have been looking at other classes “melee” but most classes have to many buttons for my liking.
Sure but Arms I hear not doing great too. Ret/paladin does have bubbles but I find them petty weak. two of three bubbles are tried to a 30sec debuff. On top of that they on long cds.
I am using HP. I have to use HP to use Templar soo.
Do you even have flash of light or wog if picked on your bars and actually use those???
Im doing 4 zones of vision solo without even worrying of dying at any point and i’m taking 2-3 packs of mobs.

I do. I use selfless healer over WoG. FoL even macro to Z.
I can take one pack, maybe. The two times I done visions I fail at 1st boss both times. I took invisibility potions to run pass packs to boss too. SW.
Maybe I don’t get the long cds and holy power.

My statement isn’t ignorant when it’s actually true… I’m sorry you’re daft.
I was able to beat Alleria three times now. After taking crusade for that 3 sec of high burst build…crusade however not great in pvp.
Unbreakable Spirit is also useful. rip 1 more pony.
Still 50/50 on going back to hunter. 
If you can’t be bothered to read a guide or watch a video at least to understand what you’re doing wrong then yea this isn’t for you, go back to hunter sorry.

I have. They don’t do much. Do 1 then do 2. Stuff I already know as well.

Judgement, BoJ, Wings, TemplarV, WoA, TemplarV, Crusader strike, repeat and wait procs and hope don’t get down time.
I mean as Ret everything can stop me. Surv the only thing I needed to watch for was rouges and DH.
That’s why I believe you havnt actually read a guide or at least not paid attention to it. That rotation is wrong especially if you’re using inquisition, something of which you’ve said you can’t manage to keep up full time, so that also leads me to believe there’s a large gameplay issue. Also just looking at your armory sheet your gear is Uber behind, if you’re trying to do 8.3 content you’re going to struggle until you get more gear. At about 450ish you’ll start melting things.

Currently I’m not using inquisition. Yeah I forget it there as 'm more worried about getting TemplarV or Storm out.
I’m behind but 8.3 is soooo boring. I thought 8.2 was boring with mechogon but 8.3 take the cake with that. It adds nothing too.
I mean I already did the story part so I guess I can just skip about until SL comes out. I don’t raid or hardcore pvp so yeah.
Back in Legion I thought Suramer was hard “It also had a bad quest line as well”. I did not do Suramar until just before BfA when I was way over ilvl.
