Let me guess, ads where possible, and selling your private data to other companies. Companies that may not even be in the US, and who’s data security standards are much lower than in the US.
Weird way to say you have a low io score
I don’t even know what my score is on my mains, I stick to LFR to avoid elitist BS.
Yeah, this thread makes a lot of sense now
What you do in your progression addiction is none of my business, but raider IO is a privacy infringement of every player in world of warcraft, and needs to go.
This but Rio is still dumb af
Low quality bait on this. Need improvement, just like your skill in wow
My eyes just rolled all the way to texas
‘Oh no, my arbitrary score from the handful of arbitrary scores!’
Lets get back on topic though, how DOES raider IO make its money? It ain’t from selling WoW info, that’s for sure.
OP complains about the IO score website.
Me thinking Better check the OPs IO score.
It’s posting data about your progress in game which is already available for everyone to see. Just consolidating it, making it easier to find and attaching a score to it. Not your personal irl data. I can understand not wanting other nations knowing how I failed my last key, but they can find that out without IO.
I’m sure it makes money from ads on its website. Notice how your io score doesn’t update itself unless you go to the site and update your profile?
The website is powered solely by whining.
Thanks for doing your part.
Selling your data? lol.
The data RIO has is already available… to anyone via Blizzard’s API. It can also be scraped from the armory/ladder.
RIO is making money off ads. With a quick glance, I doubt any of their contributors are paid and all the content is just coming from Twitch, which they likely get money from. I doubt it’s very lucrative, but for a 2-3 person team it’s probably decent. That said, a good dev could do this alone as a side project.
Blizzard makes the data available to anyone who wants it. It’s not private and is not violating anything. All the data can already be seen in your armory.
How is it dumb though? The ladder and armory do the same thing. RIO isn’t even the only site that provides this data.
Ads and they got a Patreon which offers perks like being able to skip the queue on updating.
Also lol @ it being a privacy violation. It just scrapes the data from the armoury and assigns it a score, and even then the armoury data is Blizzards, not yours.
There’s no need to feed ignorant trolls here
It’s dumb for the simple reason that you need a good io to get invited into groups but in order to get io, you need to get invited in the first place which is a never ending vicious cycle that pushes out new players, people who weren’t there from the beginning etc…
The problem become extremely more apparent when you’re playing DPS as you are in competition with THOUSANDS of other dps which majority of them are going to be both higher ilvl and higher io.
Just take a +10 for exemple, the ilvl reward for completing it is a 203 ilvl piece of gear so you’d presume people who make these +10 are going to invite people under 203 ilvl and you’d also presume that people who queues are also going to be under 203ilvl as they as seeking for upgrades. BIG NOPE, you go in a +10, tank might be around 200 to 205, same thing for healers and you look in the queue, it’s filled with 216, 220, 210 ilvl etc… How on Earth is it possible to compete as a dps against these people, obviously they are going to get invited before anybody else and major good luck if you play a non meta spec.
So yes, this is why it’s dumb, it ruins the experience for casuals, people who are late to the party and the role of dps as a whole because since it’s timed content, the more dps = the higher chance of success. I’d argue that these informations should be hidden by blizz, when you queue, people should be able to see your ilvl and your spec. That’s it.
You know how you applied to that group that one time? Yeah, that guy created a group and waited to invite people.
Maybe you could try this approach?
There’s no way it can possibly be too many people signing up for keys but no one will ever join your group.
A +10 is worth a small chance of a 203 end of dungeon loot, but a guaranteed 220 piece of loot end of the week. That is pretty much what everyone works towards.
I am 209. I have tried many +10’s but never timed one. Luckily i have friends and we are willing to grind it out. I would not advise anyone taking me in their group right now. In a few days i’l be ready, i’l have more gear, i’l know the mechanics and i’ll be ready to time your key. And what do you know, i’ll have a better IO score also by then automatically, without trying. Just by timing lesser keys before jumping into a 10.
Please note that the 209 requirement may be different for different classes and players. I’m a filthy casual. Better players will be able to do it at 200. But they would also have a better score because they did the lesser keys as they learnt. So the IO score becomes a better indicator than ilvl.
Sounds good, doesn’t work. Actually, never work. I tried plenty of time to do it as a dps and it’s just a joke. I tried to do a +2, I wasn’t expecting much, I was ready to invite people around 170 ilvl, took 30 minutes to find 2 other dps above 170ilvl which eventually left because we couldn’t find either a tank or a heal. I waited 1 hour total just to give up as a just lost both of other dps in my group and no heal or tank in sight.
M+ community is dead if you’re not part of the elite, simple as that.
Anyway, it’s always funny to get an arrogant answer from a guy who doesn’t have the balls to post on his main.
