How does one actually talk to support?

I Havnt submitted a ticket in ages however a guild mate of mine has been trying to contact support for a week and all he gets is automated responses that are largely unhelpful.

Is there a cheat code to actually talk to a human? Do humans still work on the support staff?

Tickets. That’s it.

You don’t. I haven’t seen or heard of anyone having a live human to human interaction outside of tickets with support in many expansions.

a lot of people have said that the only way to talk to a human is to submit a billing ticket… you dont mess with Blizzards money…

Be specific in your ticket. It should say something like

  • I tried to do the next quest but can’t find the “!” to get it started - or -
  • I try to pick up the book the quest tells me to get, I see other people picking it up, but I don’t see the book.

Those were two bugs I reported and they fixed both of them.

But if it’s something along the lines “My character’s class/spec needs to be buffed” then that’s not going anywhere.

What are they trying to contact support for? There’s some things GMs can’t help with, so they might be getting the “submit a bug report, there’s nothing we can do to help you” copy/paste.

Heya yep!

I have gotten the very much of ‘link to support article which you’ve already said you’ve tried and close’ but usually the follow-up will be a real human. Don’t make a new ticket, respond to the same one saying your result to whatever support doc they gave you.

I’ll support you.

You got this.

That isn’t something that a support ticket can help with. You’ll get an autoresponse kicked back saying to check Wowhead.

If you ask in the Customer Support forum with information specific to your friend’s situation, people can help steer them in the direction of the right type of request to submit. A lot of it is just knowing what specific type of ticket to put in, or when tickets can’t help and it’s an issue better suited to a bug report (that isn’t a two-way conversation, it’s a you-report-and-wait-to-see-if-they-fix-it thing).

Have them post in the Customer Support Forum to see what the issue is. If it’s a bug, there’s nothing a GM can do and that gets posted in Bug Reports. If it’s confusion on a quest, GMs cannot help with that either, as it’s considered game hints. But the CS forum can help. If it’s something else, the CS forum can point them in the right direction.

But they need to be the one posting. It’ll help the SFAs, because they can see the tickets then.

indie company recently taken over by a small start up. they really are trying the best that they can. really they are.

I had a ticket in the other day where the expected wait time to be answered increased over time rather than decreased.

I remember back when you used to be able to talk to a live agent over the phone. These days, they make it incredibly difficult to actually get in contact them now via ticket-and even then you will be directed over and over again until you can get crafty to eventually get to an option that will allow you to make a ticket.

The phone line was never meant to be for anything but billing issues, and they shut it down because people were calling it to dispute account actions, argue about lore, just chat because they were lonely and weird, froth about PVP balancing, you name it.

The ticket system does a poor job of saying outright “you can’t make a ticket for this, go check Wowhead or submit a bug report,” but that’s why it gives you the runaround. If you can’t seem to find the right kind of ticket to submit, it’s usually because it’s not an issue that can be fixed or help through a ticket like feedback, “game hints”, bug reports, etc.

Maybe that’s the way it is today. I told them I had watched videos, I had stood there as others picked up the book I couldn’t see and they reset something and told me to try again. That time it worked.

But this was several expansions ago. It may be different now.
