Levelling a MW monk, and I am confused.
Got Invoke Yu’Lon, and I was all excited to see this great AOE 3-minute CD heal! Oh boy!
Then I watched it just sit there…
How exactly do I make it heal?

It does heal, but it only works in combat. It doesn’t run around or anything, it just breathes on people from range. It doesn’t really become a good CD until level 59, then it becomes one of the best in the game.
Really? ok.
I saw a video of MS during Beta where it zipped around; guess it was changed.
Good at 59? Yikes.
Right now, MS at 42 feels rough.
I thought MS was supposed to be simple? good for new healers?
I already got resto shaman and druid to 50, and MS feels way more complicated! Mostly cause there’s so much spell interactions. So many times you need to cast one thing to make another thing stronger. Druid and Shaman, you just kinda press what you need.
Also, I just wanna run and hide when I see lots of group damage.
My best advice is to not panic on the group damage problem.
Typically if there is fatal group damage, it’s because the group is failing at mechanics. Not your problem to fix.
Other than that, yes there are group spikes, you just use the tools you have and when on CD you triage heal the team member worst off. With the strongest single target heals it doesn’t take long to get the group back up to full - provided they aren’t playing stupidly.
You should’ve seen when we had Invoke the Crane where the bird would just spazz out all over the place
So Mistweaver is an interesting healer. The advice I give people is typically; if you are brand new to healing it’s probably the easiest to pick up and do well with. However; if you’ve played any of the other healers at all it becomes one of the hardest to pick up and do well with.
Mistweaver plays fundamentally different from every other healer in the game. There are things you need to be doing constantly in order to be capable of reacting to damage effectively, and it doesn’t always have to do with knowing when damage is coming, so unlike a disc priest.
Yu’lon is an incredibly strong cooldown that a lot of the community undervalues. You essentially are coating 6 people in Enveloping Mist every time you cast it while Yu’lon is up. Given that Enveloping Mist is one of the strongest HoTs in the game, with a very short duration, that’s big.
In 5 mans it’s 30sec of sustained group burst healing. In raids; it’s 30seconds of sustained raid wide burst healing. The main problem being; in raids it’s likely to run you oom in one cast. So I suggest you make friends with a balance druid for innervate.
