How does holy manage o.o

I have a really long history with holy. I haven’t played it this expansion yet, but my main is currently ret and I want to pocket heal my bffs protadin.

How the hell do you manage all these spells? I’m not a fan of having to do dps mostly because of how many bloody buttons it adds. I ran out of accessible keybinds that aren’t already bound to something else. And there’s folks wanting more o.o

Any good guides on holy? I haven’t played in a while obviously, do I ask.

Thanks

I recommend you to play the piano buddy, cause that is how you are good at this class. pretty much spread the glimmers, reset them with daybreak, divine toll them back, spend holy infusions with flash of light and cast tyr + hod keep the Tyr all 45 secs with flash of light. also sacrifice upcoming targeted damage, also BoP for bleeding mechanics and when DPS pull agroo, also freedom for impairing mechanics. don’t forget to cleanse players, and build Holy power with Holy shock and judgment so you can use WoG but not too much cause you will go OOM. Hey, don’t worry rotate the blessing of season. Remember you have aura mastery. Keep track of your stack buffs of Dawn and Dusk, Keep track of your awakening so you can maximize your wings, and don’t stack with the wings. while you should be always on the concentration so you get a healing increase. super simple.

Let me know if you want to do DPS because you can add more

Never really healed before.

Made a Disc priest for the sole reason of getting season 2 tier for my paladin in TWW.
I liked it because I wasn’t overwhelmed with buttons to bind.

I’m trying Holy Priest to, more buttons but still somewhat manageable.

The difference is stupidly obvious on Holy Paladin.

Mainly, it comes from having 2 resources to manage and standalone buttons that serves no purpose other than their own for better or worse (Blessing of Season, Holy Prism, Hands spells, etc.)

The 2 resources bloats them, you have 2 healing spenders and 1 damage spender and then on top you need the builders to make those 3 work.

So now you have a bunch of other spell that may or may not have dual purpose as healing/builders or builders on specific proc.

It’s a mess.

The build where you focus on being in melee and use you healing spender is way more intuitive but the throughput isn’t “there” and you OOM really quickly compared too pretty much any other class.
But even when I tried that, I “gimped” myself into having as few buttons as possible.

They did buff the healing spender recently, doesn’t really help with mana though.

Hm.

I’ll probably try to see if I can get away with not binding some of it.

I can’t use an mmo mouse either, I need a vertical mouse to manage wrist pain. Those don’t come with a lot of buttons. Though mapping that to my numpad would be useful :frowning:

When I get some trinkets I’ll give it a go I guess. That’s all I’m missing from a basic set.

Do help vs no help. So you get 2 abilities per bind

E = heals for friendly
E = damage for enemies

Takes awhile to get used to what you mapped where, but it becomes very useful later on

Theoretically could work.

How would it work with mouseovers? I use clique for dispelling but mouseovers macros to heal(I don’t like the built in version much).

For example, a ST raid boss, I have the boss targeted and mouse over raid frames to heal.

Would love some ideas for hpal help/harm combos. I have a few but it’d be nice to maybe find some more because the button bloat is real.

Same way, you just do your mouseover macro with the help harm

I don’t actively play Holy Paladin so I couldn’t help you there.

But on my Shaman, to save room, I’ve got:

Healing Surge + Lightning Bolt
Healing Wave + Lava Burst
Chain Heal + Chain Lightning

time to go look up some macro syntax.

Yeah Hpal is one of those specs where you really have to get creative with bindings.

I’m not the type that likes lots of different key binds so what I do is reuse a lot of them for different context.

For example: 1 is Crusader Strike or Flash of light if I’m mousing over a party/raid frame. 3 is WoG or Judgment. F is Consecration or Freedom etc. R is Hammer of Wrath or Sac.

I use the addon “Clique” to be able to bind spells when mousing over frames so you can avoid the jarring situation when you use @mouseover macros and your cursor hits a player in the game world.

It can be a little finicky because you then need to get use to mousing over frames and moving your mouse off them to do healing/damage but it works for me.

In the end, you just need to find something that works for you. GL

I have used help/harm on my monk but it’s been a hot minute(mop).

Mouseovers I’m kinda used to. I’ll see what I can do later when I get out of bed. Lol

Edit, I use clique for right click dispel. That’s it. ><

There’s some good ideas here, I have a bunch of keybinds it looks like I can free up.

Another one I’ve done is I have a cast sequence macro for Tyr’s Deliverance and Hand of Divinity (since they’re basically always used together). Unfortunately they’re both on the GCD so it requires two casts but it saves a button.

That could help too. I’m going to make those macros today after I sleep (I’m in EU and get up at midnight to play with my American friends) as it’s 8 am.

Need to see which pairings make the most sense.

Any ideas on ability pairings?

Also, I don’t remember, how do you format castsequence macros? I can’t find anything consistent.

Shield of the righteous + wog
Judgment + flash
Concecration + holy light
Tyrs + hammer of wrath (while you didn’t actually cast tyrs onto an ally, you can still combine it with a mouse over friendly condition)
Daybreak + crusader strike (again, while you make want to rip glimmers off enemies, you can still use a friendly mouse over condition for day break)
Divine toll and holy shock will still be single buttons since they can be both offensive and defensive

Hopefully these give you some ideas

Perfect.

(changed forum profile to pally main lol).

Ill get these together later today.

I’m trying so hard to learn to enjoy holy but it’s not making it easy.

I want to main ret next expansion, and i like to have a heal off-spec, but holy is hotdog water to me. Especially coming from playing preservation, which is reallllly good.

It’s just takes some getting used to, since you really have to use your whole kit.

Feel free to watch some of my recordings to get an idea: https://youtu.be/DVM_BKc2vgM?si=sYsnNPpgX_XA59fL

I have a few 13+mythic runs I need to upload soon, if your trying to do more m+

I dabbled in ret this season and now can’t get invites to +6s to upgrade the legendary so figured I’d just pick up holy and knock out some crests. NOPE. What is this spec lol? At 510 it felt like doing M0s for the weekly was my hps limit, while I could probably heal a +6 on HPriest with literally 3 buttons.

When running content above your current comfort level, you’ll find it important to identify which abilities from a mob are detrimental and to determine if you have the agency to stun our silence a given spell is that can be more impactful than letting it cast and needing to heal through it, additionally for unavoidable damage it can be helpful to anticipate and plan what cooldowns you’ll use. Holy paladin requires pressing multiple buttons in response to things which can be quite overwhelming.

For example if you’re trying to heal the first boss of Ruby life pools, you would want to try to place a sac or blessing of protection on the player that gets the chill storm so that they take reduced damage when they run out of it making healing them and then the whole group easier before it pops, while you would also want to cast virtue preferably one moment before the chill storm drops initially so that you can AOE heal the group up and you could get away with just a divine toll to get through that.

While paladins are primarily reactive healers it still takes anticipation to know what spells you’re going to need to be casting so that you aren’t flustered and you don’t fall behind
