How does HC handle quests where you have to die?

I am curious both about the official servers and how the HC community has handled it so far. I know of at least two quests that require a player to die and speak to an NPC in spirit form. One at BRD to get the quest to obtain shadowforge key (necessary if you plan to finish the dungeon) and one in Tanaris where your spirit has to wander into the hills and find an npc. There maybe be others as well. really not sure. Just guessing official servers may have changed those quests. I personally think they should have been changed long ago because it’s dumb to require death to complete a quest.

The way you handle it is by not doing those quests. Did that answer your question?

Looking for laugh emote. So no one ever does BRD? I can totally see skipping the Tanaris one. But BRD is too fun.

From the Rules of Engagement:

My understanding however is that players were not able to test this on the PTR.

try reading the announcement about HC, it answers a lot of common questions :expressionless:

the changes are all pretty simple, like they just made the ghost of the BRD guy visible when alive

They actually mentioned those quests in the interview and will alter the quests so players can do them without having to be dead

I did ‘warch’ it. That’s why I am interested at all. I apparently missed that part in all they covered. And I know I missed the announcement on the launcher because I don’t pay a lot of attention to their self ads and such. Went back and found it after someone mentioned it as a response here. But I was not just asking about official. I was also asking how HC handled it up till now. Evidently, they haven’t if the solution was just to not get a key that unlocks a large part of a major classic dungeon.

I don’t think you need to do the BRD quest honestly.

But making it doable is definitely better then having to rely on a Rogue or Blacksmith with Skelton Keys.

lol

Imagine being that guy.

Engineers, blacksmiths, and rogues can open the doors in BRD with or without doing the quest.

Would have been a non-issue if they didn’t even bother to change it, but seems like they’re going to anyway.

this was ALL explained in the very first HC announcements :woman_facepalming:

Why would it be weird to require death? That seems like a strange claim. How is that any different from any of the other requirements for quests?

This just in: people read different things.
