Do you fish and cook then sell on the AH? How does this whole process work?
You can sell fish to people who are leveling cooking.
You can sell cooked items to raiders.
Edit: Speaking from experience on both counts.
Secondary professions are great. Oily Blackmouth will be needed by alchemists and always be great for money.
Until the economy builds up I plan on converting my cloth into bandages and just vendoring them for some decent cash too.
Fishing becomes quite lucrative if you get it maxed out. Some fish are needed for Alchemist potions which are used for raids. Not only that, but there are fish as well that’s used for cooking (or you can cook for them) which give buffs they also use for raiding.
Cooking won’t necessarily make you money directly at first since you’re using the materials you find to level it. It works hand’n hand with fishing since you can cook the fish you literally fish. At max level stages you can cook food and plop a stack on the auction house - it will be sure to sell.
Savory Deviate Delight will always sell.
There is savings in cooking your own buff foods, much buff food is / needs fish
some fish OIly black mouth and firefish or what ever come to mind. Both used by alchemists so sell those
Deviate fish and perhaps delite, but can’t remember when the fish and reciepie came into WOW. Always a good seller.
Example would be taurin eating them to lower their size since they don’t fit as well in certain places. Plus they are fun to mess with
Not a super source of income, but part of something that sometimes ya just want to chat and can be fishing same time etc.
If you RP any fishing / cooking / picnic with friends has a value
OH, almost forgot, some hunter pets eat fish and if they need food, they may just buy a stack of the right level fish to keep their pets happy or to use for your own hunter pet if you are hunter.
Sometimes ya fish up some interesting stuff besids fish.
Easily.

I think even cooking food to vendor it makes more money if your just trying to empty bags and don’t need it on an alt or want to mess with putting it on the AH.
Most money made in fishing and cooking will be selling oily blackmouth to alchemists, various buff foods to raiders and things like deviate fish to people who are bored.
The key to making money with profs in WoW is to kill two birds with one stone whenever you can. When you fish, you’re not only creating stacks of raw fish to sell for others to make into food; you’re also obtaining a variety of trade mats for other crafters, which you can sell raw or craft yourself. Cooking allows you to further process the fish into cooked food, creating a value-added product, which you can then sell for even more than the raw trade mats (usually; be careful, exceptions do occur).
The WoW economy is driven largely by people who have more gold than time, or who prioritize their time as worth more than their gold. Your job is to meet their needs in whatever way you can. Because many people don’t have the patience for fishing, demand is higher for the items obtained through only (or largely) fishing, driving up the price. This is why it is typically a profitable profession, even in retail, though less so than it used to be (probably because it’s considerably more streamlined in retail and more palatable to the masses as a result).
It will be interesting to see if fishing and cooking are actually moneymakers this time around. There might be too many people going that route this time. The first few months after Classic releases will be the most volatile and unpredictable, I suspect.
and the recipe if ya get an extra sells well also, hold it till folk have enough gold to pay the better prices a bit later on Id suggest.
in fact many recipe sells well not just cooking but cooking also.
Just an additional FYI: Don’t forget that in Vanilla, the time of day is important when it comes to fishy drop rates. For example, one of the most valuable alchemy ingredients, stonescale eel, is best fished between midnight and noon, otherwise the fishrate drops to 1-2%.
Deviate fish used to sell good and for a good price, they can only be caught from a few ponds in the Barrens. Savory Deviate Delight recipe is a zone drop that only drops in the Barrens and it’ll fetch a nice price. Thier is also an Alchemy formula that uses deviate fish that also drops from the Barrens.
There’s gold to be made both by selling the fish and selling the cooked fish. There’s also the chance to fish up certain herbs, rare items, etc., which you can then turn around and sell.
Sagefish are pretty good for casters.
i’ve made a lot of gold back in the day fishing/cooking up savory deviate delight.
I’m going to copy the mess I have in my makeshift everything classic guide.
