How does banning work with multiple linked accounts?

I am curious about how this works and couldn’t find anything in the TOS, contract, other legalese to answer my question.

If you’ve got multiple accounts on your login and you do something nefarious and your account gets banned, how does this effect the other accounts? Is the ban a login-wide thing or subaccount wide?

Thanks for your time!

if you did something bad they might nuke the whole accounts

It doesn’t, but you gotta do something serious egregious to get a whole Batllenet Account banned.

Here’s how it works: You can get one account banned on a bnet that has multiple accounts.

i can’t speak for an in-game ban, hasn’t happened to me.

but on current forums, one character gets forum disciplined, the whole bnet account gets the punishment (unable to post replies).

Bans are per license, not Bnet account. You can always start a new license if your other gets banned.

But… don’t get banned. :dracthyr_shrug:

Just that license gets banned. However, if you really went too far, they can ban the entire bnet.

I actually have an answer for this! Happened back in the giant purge that Blizz did ages ago where they handed out 10 month bans for third party stuff. BUT if one account gets banned, even if they are linked, your other accounts are still operational.

You just get banned on the other account. If you want to bot for example, you should do it on another account (WoW2 or even another entire email/blizz level account), that way you can send the gold back to your main account and your license that you botted on gets banned but your main account doesn’t. You can also put all your bots in the same guild as an account you play and have the bots deposit all their gold into the guild bank.

Thank you all very much, that explains quite a bit and is helpful. I have multiple accounts attached to my email from the early RAF days of getting and not being able to share 2 seater rockets so I would like to save the cost of the game if possible but didn’t want to risk my primary acct on the email.

There’s nothing dramatic or noteworthy going on. If the ban occurs, it will be for sending a non-risque, non-confrontational, positivity-laced guild invite via whisper which Blizzard has automatedly warned me for multiple times because of the way the reporting feature works. I already do all I can to not further bother someone that doesn’t like it. If someone responds negatively, I respond to let them know I won’t bother them again and block their toon so I won’t accidentally send them a second message, further bothering them and I don’t send invites unless they respond requesting one. I’m not going to stop whispering people in an MMO and I don’t trust Blizz’s system not to ban me due to the reporting by people that very much dislike pink text in WoW so I wanted to try to make sure that my primary acct didn’t get banned for another sub account sending a whisper.

It doesn’t affect the other accounts.

Also don’t use crappy guild invite spam addons

Don’t randomly send people guild invite whispers.

Advertise every once in a while in trade or general. Never whisper people. It’s very annoying. People hate it.

Warnings don’t go on record. Only reports.

If you value access to your mains and playing this game, whatever you’re thinking of doing, don’t do it.

Thanks for the bumps guys.
