how else would you do it if not using tab? manually click on your target?
If it’s my initial target, usually just tab. If I want to target a specific mob out of many, then I click their nameplate (I have them visible in default ui).

yeah Just click the mob you want
i tried that but sometimes when i targeted the wrong mob I have to press esc to try and click again otherwise it will keep targeting the same highlighted mob

I tab target and I really need to kick that habit because I’ve accidentally pulled mobs to the tank while trying to DoT things up o_o

If it is a group mob and not a npc, the one farthest away or the one if it moves first. Now mine ,you there is always the chance the whole group will come for you so always be prepared.

I had to use a plater mod to hide the nameplates of the waiters. But even so, no tabbing around in that fight. I clicked the nameplate or boss frame, and a freida interrupt macro.
But… Yea. Usually I’m a combination of tabbing, and clicking the nameplate.
Do you have sticky targeting enabled?

Tab, Shift Tab, or Click.
Tab target most of the time. It’s gotten me in trouble a couple of times. When several mobs are close together, I will just click on the one I want to focus on.
Yes. Objectively, unless something’s not right with your mouse hand, clicking on one thing once is better than pressing tab whatever number of times.
Edit: There are exceptions, of course. If I am putting DoTs on every member of a pack, I’ll use tab to do it for sure.

Being nitpicky the one thing I don’t like about tab targeting is when I am strafing away to my left side while maintaining LOS over the right shoulder (to use instants like fire blast), I have to stop for a split second to free up my pinky finger to press tab on keyboard. So my toon would kite, then stay in place to tab target, then resume kiting. It’s also hard to click a nameplate and constantly move in that fashion the whole time.
All my premium binds which are the ones I can hit with only my index finger when strafing are taken so I’m trying to figure this one out. I know I can jump by spacebar to maintain momentum in mid air moving to the strafing direction thus freeing up the pinky finger to tab which I do sometimes but there is also delay in that as method as well.

And then end up probably targetting a mob at the side of your field of view and at a distance, instead of the one that’s right in front of your face…
Why let me use phoenix flames on the 5 mobs pack in front of me when it can make me break phylacteries at max range, right?

Not usually. If that’s the case it’s easily remedied by clicking a nameplate.
