I already know how to remove error speech. Please DO NOT respond with “Go into interface and disable error speech.” That has NOTHING to do with what I am discussing in this post.
The “Error Sounds Be Gone” addon does not appear to be working for WoW Classic when installed into the WoW Classic’s addon folder.
I’m talking about the “error chime/noise” that occurs when an ability is not ready. Here is a video to use as an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZWDJRSJLo4&t=40s
If you don’t feel comfortable using the link…the Youtube video is titled: “Get rid of those pesky error sounds! World Of Warcraft addon!” The video shows exactly what I am hearing that is so annoying.
I installed the addon and extracted the folder many times trying to place it correctly into the WoW Classic Addons folder. No matter how many different ways I try this I still hear the “error chime/noise”. The worst is when I use macros and the “error chime” just rings over and over and over repeatedly. I was able to remove the red error text with an addon but not the “error chime/noise”.
Someone stated in another article that the Error Sounds Be Gone addon no longer works in retail either as of a recent patch. I just want to turn off the sound in WoW Classic…especially for macros!

ESBG works just fine, but if you read the README, you’ll see that it does not go into your Addons folder and instead gets extracted into your World of Warcraft/classic folder. In fact, to remove the sound in question, you only need 1 file.
World of Warcraft/classic/Sound/Spells/Fizzle/FizzleHolyA.ogg
Tested and confirmed >>> working as intended
I used to have an added that did that. I remember it being name No More Woosh Sound. Something to that…
Hey. So I’ve been going mad for the same reasons. This is one of many places I looked.
It’s fixed and I’m good to go. For some reason, perhaps the passage of time and blizzard updates, I indeed was required to nest this file one level deeper than they say. I put it into:
../WorldofWarcraft/_classic_/
<<< and put the ‘sound’ file here. (actually, I think it’s currently in both, but it didn’t work until I nested it one level deeper. oh well spaghetti’s code or something, good thing I’m not computer hygiene enough for this to bother me… it works and I’m not going to further mess with it.)
This “add on” is working as intended. I clicked ‘download’ (not ‘install’) from the curse forge website (not the app), then moved the sound file. Thanks for my sanity in 2022.

Noone plays with sound. Good god, why would you!? Stop it.
Confirmed the ESBG folder should go right into the …/WorldofWarcraft/classic/ folder. I was not able to find this addon folder in Curseforge but googled it and it was out there on another site.
Thanks all for the advice. I don’t always have the sound on but do for dungeons, raids, etc. Nice to get that solved.
