How do you profit with engineering?

I finally decided to finish maxing out my engineering and make a tool set for it, yet I just don’t see how you even turn a profit with it. Everything is so expensive to craft, and even the gun which will have some relevance next tier simply will not compete with the bow cost wise at all.

Always felt like engineering has struggled to make money due to its high cost on items, other than the niche times of when you can make auto hammers to sell.

toys are the big sellers

I’d buy your pets and toys if you put them for sale at a decent price…

With enough skill and an Illustrious Insight you craft guaranteed R3 Arclight Vital Correctors (the Brez tinkers) and those still sell for a pretty penny.

Might be what I do when I can make them, I specialized in armor and combat equipment, I planned to go into tinkers next as the bulk of my dragonshards have been put into alchemy due.

I think I’ve made most of my engineering bucks this expansion by auctioning freebie mats I get from dirt piles.

How about selling the things that everyone can use like: the attire arranger, gliders, repair anvil, or even the flame anvil. Of course, the mounts sell too, like the Goblin Shredder, the flying machine, and the rocket.

As long as there are bots in this game there is no way to turn a decent profit in this game with any profession. This is comming from someone whos been playing steady since BfA. Played on and off from vanilla to BfA in 3-6 month spurts.

There will always be bots.

Yeah I just sell keys for my gold currently, more than likely going to switch to tokens soon when my sub is about to be up for renewal. I’m hoping to earn a little through alchemy as there will be a demand for pots for the first couple weeks of the new tier. Although thanks to blizzard allowing ultimate’s to be posted on the AH that more than likely will cripple my original plans.

Make the engineering bracers for other people. They don’t have to be engineers to use them.

They can even use the tinker slot.

You used to be able to sell decent ranged weapons and stuff to hunters, each and every expansion.

Work orders for that gun, probably?

Goblin gliders are always easy cash (I actually buy the PvP ones with marks of honor to save money) and gliders will always be in-demand.

Engineering probably isn’t as good a money-maker as the other professions though, if I’m being honest. There’s still money to be made, just not Lariat money.

Cost wise it’s far less expensive to have a leatherworker make the bow than the gun, primal seared obsidian is currently at 1k per rank 3 bar, which far exceeds the bow counterpart.

The only thing the gun has going for it is that it does more damage per shot, but the bow does less damage per shout but has a firing rate of 2.6 seconds compared to the gun that has a rate of 3 seconds per shot. Unless that difference is enough to allow the gun to pull ahead DPS wise, then no one will more than likely buy it given again it costs a ton of gold to make.

How many other professions can make 418 crafted bracers that give the person a battle rez?

That is a valid point, although people aren’t really buying them right now due to already having them. I can make them though so maybe I can make a little with upgrades and new main swappers needing some for the tinker slot.

engineering was never about profit, it was about the complexity and the fun of it.

I made a mint before by crafting things that engineers use to craft other things, but evidently didnt want to bother making themselves. Like the bots needed to make Jeeves.
Anymore I dont even bother trying to make gold with Engineering. I have it for the cool stuff, like wormholes and tinkers.

The people making the real money are the ones stealing all the Writhebark but not picking any of the worthless Hochenbloom so that more Anchor Weed … I mean more Writhebark, will spawn, no?

You don’t.

Engineering will be worth levelling again when WPvP and BGs are worth grinding again.

What happened to being able to farm gems and other valuable mats with Honor anyway? That was fun.

Gotta pick the right talents that screams easy gold.
