I sometimes do pun names, or sometimes I do names in my language
This character for example name quite literally means “Forsake” / “Abandon” you know that word? And my alliance death knight name is Dhigjakuu which basically translates to “Blood Goat” it’s a draenei you guessed it, and I added an extra u at the end since Draenei have double vowels but he’s only level 56 lol.
So what do you do? Do you do puns? Words in different language like me? Lore names? Or combo?
Most of the time, I just cycle through the randomly generated names until I get something I like enough to work with.
I usually go left to right with my names.

RP style, I go for realistic names that I like and sound nice depending on their race.
Good idea I guess it is a mmmoRPG after all.
And @Karat that is smart idea I know my friend he does that too
Mettle then something about my class/spec makes raiding on my alts easier so people don’t have to learn my toons names. Can just say “mettle needs such and such”

For my first toon? I just randomed a name for this big old Orc. Alts, I made some with puns, a dare, a silly thought, jumbled some letters together. Mostly depended on what race/class/server combo I was working with.
Usually by typing.
All mine are Latin and start with “vox”, as it means “voice”. They don’t always make sense, like this one that means “voice of the plague”.
They all have something to do with the class or race of the character, such as “vox de lumine” for my pally, which is “voice of the light”.
I have a list of names. Some of the names are from other players who’s names I really liked. Sometimes I do a web search for fantasy names or goblin names. But I got to say, the random name generator comes up with pretty good names too. Just rearrange some letters and voila!

I tend to use the language the race’s culture was based on. Or Latin, like Caelus.
I don’t really have a set way of naming my characters, usually just what sounds cool.
I tend to go with meaning of names from various languages
for instance Farkas (I think I’ve said it right) its Wolf for Serbian or Slovenian
Vencio is Spanish for “To defeat”
and so forth
I usually just try to come up with something I think would match my toons race or class.
Sometimes if I am can’t come up with anything I just cycle through the name generator and cobble together a name from different ones I like.
I prefer to use names that fit the setting, or sound fantastical. No nonsense or joke names though, I play exclusively on RP servers and I abide by the naming restrictions therein.
