This is a nightmare for me. I’m currently trying to maintain four different sets (Prot, Holy, Ret + pvp Ret or AoE/ST Ret) of gear to avoid the annoying refactoring fees.
I really hate having to double down on one area of specialization. Feels like this system really punishes hybrid classes.
Yeah I am in the same boat as you at the moment. Actually, at this very moment I am lurking the forums while running sims on raidbots. I keep four sets of azerite: prot, glimmer, ret single target, and ret aoe. I do not scrap many pieces just in case there comes a time I may need an off piece of azerite gear.
I know probably no one would agree with me, but I have my moments where I think I’d rather just be able to choose which traits I want on each slot. For example, choosing to put Expurgation on a 445 azerite chest. This would be entirely too convenient, but it would also lessen the management required for hybrid classes.
I really just wish that the azerite traits change when you change spec to their prot or ret or holy counterparts. Like the inactive traits for the other specs we don’t click.

I have 3.5 sets of azerite gear in my bags. Yes, it is annoying

Two sets. Holy and prot.
Used to the old days of two bags of spare gear, so it doesn’t bother me much

Usually sitting between Ret and Holy here - I constantly don’t know what I should set my loot spec to.

It’s pretty awful. I manage four sets (Prot, Ret, Holy, Glimmer), though Holy gets the dregs and I don’t really care about it.
But yeah, holy frak it’s annoying managing multiple Azerite sets with mandatory 1-off traits, and it’s even better when you’re relying on random residuum rolls. I don’t have a good answer here; I used to spend a good 20 mins shuffling pieces every time I got a new item.
Eventually I just gave up, and now when I get a new Azerite piece I only equip if it’s a direct upgrade to one of my existing pieces. Just too much hassle. Good job Blizzard, this is definitely much better than tier sets or legendaries. /eyeroll

Yup… samesies. I keep one set of azerite for each spec though dont play ret much. I also keep other pieces for specific specs. Example… i got a 445 legs piece but secondaries were horrible for my main (holy) spec. I couldn’t stomach scrapping them so i kept them for prot and ret. Got a few pieces like that.

what traits u guys stacks for aoe and st as ret? my traits are 1x Empyrian, 1x Avenger’s Might and 3x Lights Decree.
I have 2 sets. I dont play Holy, so I have a Ret and a Prot set and just switch as needed. I admit its a bit easier for me since I don’t raid.
I have a 30slot bag filled with gear for my 3 specs. (Glimmer, PVP holy, ret) Pretty sure this is just something you have to deal with if you want to have multiple sets.
