How do you handle PvP

So. I just PvPed for the first time since Season 1. How do you all handle it? PvP in this game gives me a serious adrenaline rush, to the point where I legit have fighting anger.

It’s awful, how do you all control the salt?

Idk, what you’ve described is vague. what’s making you mad? Are you randomly dying in swaps? Is your healer getting trained by annoying rets that just immune every form of peeling so you can’t do anything? What lol

For me it’s losing to worse players because they have an overtuned comp or their gear is insane and because punishing bad dps as a healer is harder than punishing a good healer as a bad dps

No it’s just PvPing in general causes me to go into Flight or Fight mode. Even World PVP.

Just keep your cool, if you pvp enough it’s like you’re just riding a bike but sometimes I get prematch nerves and stuff like that even after like a thousand arenas in my time loool. If it’s a comp I’m not good against for example I’ll get nervous. World PvP should be fight of flight lol. If the guy outgears you and is a class that will eat you alive 1v1 then run for sure. If you stand a chance though then up to you to win it. Probably gets you goin because you know the other person’s trying to win also and you don’t want to lose? Idk

You can’t win every match and there’s no shame in losing if you learn from it though. Every good PvPer loses a lot of games btw, no damage done except to your ego and a small nusience of a resurrection timer.

Ever play a zombie game where obviously it’s scary for the zombies to get you. So you’re constantly on edge and making mistakes which makes it worse.

The secret to solving that is let them kill you a few times intentionally. Do the same thing here. Get beat a few times planning on being beaten and it’ll ease up on you.

Like go find petkick talk smack to him then duel him. Get trashed infront of everyone let him spit on you and don’t blow your cool. It’s exposure therapy lol

Sounds like what your describing is actually anxiety. All you really need is to be consistently queuing arenas or participating in PvP and you won’t get such bad nerves about doing it.

Every once in a while when I haven’t queued in a few weeks this happens to me too.

it’s a game, the less you frustrate yourself over the nothing, the better you get.

PS: learning to lose is the key

Lol, someone got hit with a 90k TV once and suddenly Ret is imba.

ya def anxiety

just chill and play as much as you can
think of other people as npcs if it stresses you out

once you’re comfortable and more aware (takes a long time) you’ll stop getting anxious

it’s not worth it for everyone though

Id say sometimes when im pushing rating it can be more of a nervous excitement for me.

It can really be more about the journey too. Tryin to figure out new strats and execution of current strats is 1/2 the fun for me.

Just gotta remember its a game and have fun with it. Sometimes its just fun doing some clown stuffs in pvp. Esp world pvp, brb ima go kill the ally auctioneers and bubble hearth out. MUHAHA.

by loving it and just doing it daily?

Never play sober

For me it wass about perspective. I use to think that my rating should be a reflection of my skill level. If you believe this you are setting yourself up for failure.
You can only control your playstyle and that is only 1 of many factors that go into arena.
You have 2 other people that determin your rating
you have sever class imbalances and broken mechanics.
You have people who actively cheat and exploit…
Frankly there are many factors other than just 1 team members skill.

So for me once realizing that i stopped caring. I just play because I enjoy pvp. Its actually made the game fun again for me.
I even offered to play with anyone who wanted games this season regardless of skill/ exp.
I have met a couple cool people also.

Been wanting to ask this. I was in a BG (so yes buffs saltwater ect could be at play) but a ret hit someone for a 206k TV. Anyone explane to me how this happened?
I aslo saw a ret sustain 50 to 60k DPS in a totally different BG. Not just in 1 big pack.
I havent keept up on all the changes with essence but i have never seen this before so im curious

Was this Saturday mid day by any chance? I told everyone to follow me if they wanted to win in a wsg and they surprisingly listened as we zerged straight to mid instead of tunnel vision running to enemy ramp before turning around. We pushed em back to a gy camp where they kept feeding us.

The mw monk kept giving me tigers lust and a priest kept popping dark arch when wings popped (or at least a lucky coincidence). Vision essence + Ultimate Retribution + hammer of reckoning = perma wings in bgs. I think my dps ended around 44k that game. A lot of it was divine storm spam.

Just salt water and beserk buff most likely. I’m seeing 100k hits in arena from TV so in a bg it’s definately possible to delete someone currently. With the stars aligning.

@Jdpp
Not sure they were on my team and we did not GY camp them so i doubt i was in your BG.
Thanks Sulfeng
Seems like that ability may be a bit much. I cant say i know the in’s and outs of ret sense BFA I just know they do a sh*t ton of damage.
