How do you guys view the 4 choices?

made a thoughtful post, in another thread, but feel a more open discussion of the 4 specs should be made. i know there is alot of time until expac. but if the expac were to launch today, how and why would you guys make a choice of what covenant to choose? this is a copy/paste msg below of a short but thoughtful of how i feel about each choice.

night fae / kyrie irving / necro lord are the 3 im having a tough time choosing between.

my goal is in shadowlands is strictly for pvp and utility. so, for raids / mythic+ min/max has very little matter into my choices, although i still plan on doing those content, im not making that my main focus on the decision.

night fae - currently best min/max for pve content generally, but also for pvp the blink would add amazing mobility, the armor looks are horrid, and turning into a fox is silly, but the death n decay seems very “meh” for pvp with everyone going to be alot more mobile in this expansion. currently got a ok feeling about this cov prolly 7/10 kinda feeling.

veneth (spelling way off im sure) do not like this cov at all, the strength currently i believe is for aoe in pve, the teleport having a cast makes me cringe, but i still feel it would be useful in pvp especially with the disorient or shield game, but the mist im not a fan of either, so both spells i personally feel will be weak in pvp (1.5sec cast, or aoe+ dodge buff) the blood vampire theme is cool i guess, i’ll give em a 5/10.

necrolords the extra limbs looks amazing and gives the a great dk more anti utility and hopefully will make all casters / healers in tears, and the pve utility would be amazing on heavy adds fights, im hoping it will not aggro unwanted adds from far away. However, fleshcraft im very on the fence on, im just personally not a fan of a DK having to worry about interupts, or me having to channel will take away from doing other abilities needed in the 2sec window, i like the buffs fleshcraft gives and the soulbind buffs it can give for pvp reasons just the channel makes me afraid. honestly feeling like this will be the covenant i choose but i could change my mind if kevin durant comes back healthy 8.5/10.

Kyrie Irving, not every day blizzard and the NBA combine their great minds to make a covenant, but for no logical reason, i find myself fancying this covenant. shackle of the unworthy looks weak low dmg and low debuff, but this potion that it gives and i understand it will work in all forms of pvp seems extremely strong to me. removing bleeds / curses ect seems like a huge “rooster” block to warlocks / rogues / ferals, it will be a nice heal to combat the burst of this 1shot 2shot potential this expansion has, and to add some personal flair to this, being a philly boy, the 215 loves teh underdog, and reading dk threads over and over, the more i see people posting about night fae / ven / necro… and never seeing anyone talking about Kyrie Irving, it makes me want to take this covenant to greatness and re-download fraps to show the world. since im giving everyone numbers and please note this is sole just personal opinion of 1 player. Kyrie gets a 9/10 only ballers will handles close to iverson, fully gets my respect.

TLDR play what you want, ALL HAIL KYRIE IRVING!

lol.

100% Kappa

Night Fae is currently broken and probably needs nerfs to 2 of its soulbinds, and both cov abilities. If we go live with current NF, there isn’t a choice, every spec plays NF in PvE.

If NF gets swatted back in line, the choice actually seems pretty dynamic. I think Nadjia, Pelegos, and Emeni are very compelling Soulbind choices, which are just as much of a facor as the abilities themselves.

agree 100% NF is the clear choice for PVE. im still got a small glimmer of hope that i will be able to pvp without having to sell my soul for mythic raid gear. im hoping between torghast and mythic+ 5mans i can gear up to compete in pvp.

i wonder if they do not pull the ripcord and if 90% of dk’s go NF for pve reasons, but then a big nerf hits how it can kill the morale for players… idk. im speculating and curious most likely have too much time on my hands in waiting. god bless Kyrie!

I know night fae is looking like the meta, but I also wonder whether a venthyr BoS build will surpass it at least in mythic +. I dont see how obliteration can compete with breath in aoe.

Anyone have any thoughts?

MotFW 35% applying to Frost Scythe.

But no, we wouldn’t want 2H Frost to actually be competitive.

I don’t raid Mythic and I don’t push keys higher than 15 most of the time so I honestly stopped caring about Night Fae being the better choice min-max wise. I am going Venthyr because by golly my Velf DK will be a walking contradiction that enjoys fancy vampire parties.

i 100% support ya mango. i have not played endgame wow since MOP, i would buy each xpac and level up and do lfr then wait for next expac. BUT!!! after playing classic wow, idk what it is, but i miss the game.

that being said, im not looking to be a min/max pve gatekeeper, but i do want to be able to do the content needed to get gear for pvp, im not 100% sure how the mythic+ gearing works, but from my youtube research, i feel i should be able to get the gear i need without sacrificing my freedom.

House of Kyrie will love to hang out with team edwarDKnights!

Going night fae because I’m a raider.

There’s really no other worthwhile option unless you only care about a cool factor

I’m mainly interested in M+. I don’t need either of the necro abilities and the Kyrian is just kinda meh. As a DK I really want the extra mobility provided by NF and V. Its between those 2 for me. If I never played frost, NF would be an easy pick but idk how I feel about using D&D often as frost. I play all 3 specs. Visually, Venthir is my fav

i respect min/max players and the reason you want to perform the best in pve content. for me though, i have always despised following the crowd, and will run the opposite way of FOTM in spite. i got faith in blizzard in keeping the game competitive.

I expect Death’s Due to get some kind of nerf before launch, but Soulshape alone is making me think Night Fae is the way to go. Finally some rockets for my wheelchair.

Currently thinking i’ll have one Necrolord DK for arena and one Night Fae DK for PVE

word, i was debating between necro and kyrian for pvp, and i feel the potion will get alot more use out of it, rather then fleshcrafter.

night fae blink could be amazing, just dnd in arena seems “meh” especially since you need targets to stay in it for stacks.

the potion i feel is being underrated ALOT. but, i also might be over-valueing it, and will be very sad, but i believe i saw in a video, we will be able to mess around with all 4 cov’s during our leveling from 50-60.

i just want to run around with abominations limb cancelling a warlock’s casts. try and do chaos bolt with me death gripping you every second you bastard

Just going Necrolord for PVP alone. Hopefully it doesn’t hurt me too much in mythic plus

Going whichever one is best for M+ and Raiding which right now is Fairy-Folk. I really think everyone who is making a big deal out of the theme is missing a big point. Raid gear. Maw Gear. You think you’re going to be wearing your cov gear in the face of that? I really dont see it.

If it wasn’t a big deal, Blizzard wouldn’t have presented them as such. They’d have made 4 tabards with identical looking zones and called it a day.

Actually, yes.

It’s not just the armor, there’s weapons, and there’s also the fact you hang out in a hub. Gothic castle, Boneyard, or forest clearing with faeries ?

So you’re really going to wear your cov gear over your raid gear? Also Oribos is a thing. You talk like you’re going to be in your class hub 90% of the time.

Yes. Especially the weapons. I really wanted those Venthyr swords.

Oribos doesn’t have the facilities that tie into the content for your covenant. You need to hang out at your Covenant HQ.

Look, I get it, you don’t care. That’s fine. It’s not hard to understand why some of us do. Not having a choice is not good, that’s not what Blizzard promised, and right now, players feel they don’t have a choice.
