How do you guys stay engaged in an overly easy game?

So, I never found WoW particularly hard. Even back in WOTLK, Cata and MoP which I talk about loving so much, the game was still really easy, right? But like, Mario is super easy and I enjoy it. Zelda is super easy and I enjoy it. WoW back then was fun too.

But I just struggle to enjoy WoW anymore.

Tonight I got AOTC. Took me a while because I leveled up 14 alts first and got them to 630-665 depending, did some content with them all, and was trying to find something that stuck. I’ve tried a good portion of the specs out there, and I inevitably burn out on them after a few days. If I swap to a new toon I’m fine for a few more days, but then I get the urge to swap again, and again, and again, and again… to the point it takes me, what, 5 weeks now to get AOTC? And my M+ IO is only 2400.

But like, now that I have AOTC, my desire to log in is kind of dropping.

I want to try mythic raiding, since I only did a few pug fill ins during DF, and I’d like to push to at least 3k just to say I did, but I don’t know how to stay engaged in the game – and plus, I just found a guild for the first time since WOTLK that I actually like, so I don’t wanna just ghost it.

I quit for over 10 years when the WoD prepatch dropped, only coming back when Dragonflight came out. Within not even a month, I burned out and quit until season 2 of DF, then again, then again. In TWW the same pattern is happening. I quit a few weeks after launch (mostly because of the lack of M+ or raiding for 3 weeks), and came back in February to just barely get AOTC and KSM.

How do you do it? How do you not get bored in a super easy game? I don’t have any other MMOs to play because no other MMO has as much endgame PvE content as WoW does. If I quit again, I’d just have League, and I can’t handle playing League every day, I have like 16,000 hours and the game is just a joke now.

Someone save me T_T

i do other stuff instead of play wow when i don’t feel like playing wow. i don’t really accomplish anything of note or merit in wow anyway just dink around and level random alts and do random world quests and stuff anyway. i don’t know if i’m just easily amused or what. it’s not like i’m any good at hard content anyway, or at real life either, i’m just subhuman basically with my schizophrenia supposedly that i have and general pathetic stupidity and laziness.

sorry, i am of no help to you probably. maybe i can make you feel better by giving you someone to look down on though. i don’t know.

Realistically WoW hasn’t exactly ever been a hard game to play class/spec wise.
Though as for content? Pushing M+/early enough Cutting Edge raid kills (cata onwards) has been enjoyable for me at least and I’ve been playing since Wrath.

I haven’t really felt any burnout yet since I do enjoy other things outside of the game and dial back my playtime once the content is on farm generally leaving me to just raid log until the next season.
During those moments i’m just raid logging, i’ll find other things to fill in my time such as spending time with family and friends, playing other video games, enjoying other activities.

If you make this game your life, you’ll truly end up not enjoying it eventually.

Typically in my guild most players will also take breaks until the next season after we finish AOTC. And you’re right, this season is much easier than previous seasons.

Those of us who stick around are usually doing M+ together. In the past we’d always aim for Key Stone Hero, but with how relaxing this season has been we’re setting our sights on that 3k rating, instead.

Keep yourself engaged by socializing with your guild more. If your guild has people aiming for the same goal you should try and work with them if you want to keep yourself engaged.

WoW works best as a goal oriented game. Want cutting edge? Search and post that you’re looking for a CE guild. Grind rep? Go do that. Get glad? You can definitely work towards it if you want. WoW can be quite boring if you aren’t pursuing a direction imo

How many threads are you gonna make about being bored because wow is so easy and simple?

Just play a different game.

I’m having fun. If I wasn’t I’d quit. That only happened once during BfA when it was clear the game design was all about keeping us busy doing chores and not adventuring.

I push CE and push high keys for IO. The challange of wow us pushing yourself and if you stagnate that just a you thing.

Also is only easy if all you do is the easy content. Start pushing yourself. Go prog mythic , push your IO and time higher keys. If all your doing is heroic and +6s your gonna get bored because you arent stimulating yourself

Just quit the game and find a new hobby, we went over this when you were spamming the forums about the game being too easy last xpac. Nothing had changed, you dont need to come back and continue your “game too easy” post spam. You could do mythic, but you already revealed to everyone that you cannot last in a guild before they kick you for being insufferable

I didn’t find parts of Wrath all that easy. It was my first expansion and the first time I did raiding and heroic dungeons. I remember having to be in the right spot and doing the right thing on your characters or stuff wiped. Questing wasn’t all that impossibly hard but then it wasn’t meant to be because questing isn’t endgame.

Most of the open world stuff now is pretty easy once you have some decent gear.

What exactly do you want in a MMO? You say its super easy, does that mean you want some or all of it to be more difficult somehow? In what respect? Questing harder, dungeons harder, raids harder, pvp…what? And how?

I will never understand people who voluntarily “burn themselves out” and then complain about being bored.

This is entirely in your hands. If you enjoy this play style, then do that and take a break for however long you need. You choose this (which is fine) but then complain.

If you want something different in the game , then do something different in the game. You may be surprised to learn that lots of people don’t have AotC yet or 2000 Mythic rating and are quite happy working on those along with other things.

Do what you enjoy and if you don’t enjoy it then do something else. Best of luck

Oh, you again.

I vaguely remember you making at least 2 other threads about not finding a spec that you like or something similar.

Honestly, you sound burnt out. Take a break. You may feel like coming back later and you may actually find the game fun again.

If you dont enjoy the game dont play. Pretty simple. Try something else.

It’s an MMO, it’s supposed to be a long-duration game.

Family hides away in their rooms with their friends, I don’t have friends.

Most games last me 3 days at best. Then all I have left is live service games, like League, Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, MMOs, etc. Unfortunately, League is becoming a horrible game (even if I used to love it), WoW is now a horrible game, Overwatch is now a horrible game, Marvel Rivals is just too shallow and got boring (though I’ll play season 2 for like 3 days since it came out today)

Don’t really have much else. I do art, but I suck at it and hate my art so much it makes it hard to want to do it. I read, but I ran out of books I care to read because I like fantasy that isn’t super edgy or sexualized, which is basically nonexistent. I cook, but I can only do that once a day. I watch anime, but there’s a finite amount of it out there, especially because I like cutesy stuff instead of shounen.

Like, gaming is all I’ve really got.

I roll alts too much, as a result my highest geared toon is 665, and is a healer, which our guild has a surplus of. I can’t play DPS at all on that class, and my other toons are 650 at the highest, but I also can’t DPS on them. So I kinda have to do high keys on my own, until people get sick of their healers – but I don’t like doing that either because I feel bad doing <2M overall DPS in these keys, and I’m bored of healing so can’t enjoy that either.

Yeah, but sticking to a direction is a challenge. I burn out on my class so incredibly fast it’s hard to get geared enough to push CE, or push my keys enough to actually get invites to 12s.

Don’t have any others. Literally the only other game I have that I’m not sick of or totally burned out on is League, and I can’t handle League day in day out. I get unnecessarily angry.

I’ve done up to 12s. When does it start getting beyond easy? Literally I can do whole keys just spamming Spinning Crane Kick and no one goes below 80% health.

Tried that. A lot of times, actually.

The guild I’m in currently hasn’t kicked me, and I’ve been in it for about a month. We even debated politics and I’m still around.

What I want in an MMO is a game that never ends. Every so often we get new content, new levels to push, new raids, and etc. I can roll a bunch of alts and do things in different ways, and the game isn’t over in 3 days like most games are for me.

WoW has all that.

But like, I loved the 3D Mario games, right? I still do, and just replayed Sunshine and loved it. But Odyssey was like, “Let’s make this game so easy your 80 year old grandma who has never touched a video game could play it!” and it just became unfun. It was a shallow, repetitive collectathon with very little thought or depth to it. It wasn’t fun.

Zelda was always easy, and I LOVED Zelda all the way up to Skyward Sword. Was my favorite game series as a kid, and it inspired me to take all sorts of game dev and art classes growing up to make my own video games or work at Nintendo. Most of my names and emails and etc are based on Zelda. But then BOTW came out, and they removed any and all sense of progression, all difficulty, and the game became yet another uninspired open world collectathon.

WoW did the same thing. In WOTLK, Cata and MoP, I had fun playing the game. I’d get a character to max level, pug heroic (which was the equivalent to mythic today), then I’d just delete the toon and start over. I just had fun progressing. The classes weren’t hard in the slightest, but there was enough depth there that you could outperform your gear, and it felt good to “master” your class. These days classes are so shallow that nothing matters outside of your gear and uptime. You really can’t go wrong with rotations, and your damage is tied up in secondary stats and passives, so there’s not really much skill you can put into it either – all to try to milk money from people who don’t play MMOs in the first place.

I just want the game to be fun again. Doesn’t even have to be hard, just enough depth to require me to pay attention, to reward all the time and effort I put in. But that’s not how you make money.

People keep saying this. I took a TEN YEAR break and was bored within a month. I took a several month long break and was bored in two weeks. No amount of breaks is going to fix the game. Activision murdered WoW, and all we have left is a pathetic imitation.

WoW probably has fewer things to do than most of it’s competitors at endgame.

The point is, if you’re not having fun, then stop playing instead of trying to force yourself to keep playing something you seem to hate.

FFXIV

  • Four bosses in boxes a week, no trash, no lead up, nothing. And these bosses take ~7-15 minutes depending on the tier.
  • Two, random heroic dungeons a day.

That’s it.

GW2

  • Farming achievements / transmog.

That’s it.

KMMOs are just grindfests, they don’t really have an endgame. Didn’t play ESO to endgame so I can’t comment.

Point is, WoW is the only MMO that has any kind of significant endgame. Why that is, I have no clue.

Again, go be an antagonistic troll elsewhere. Preen in your discord more.
