How do you guys get through it to level 60?

My characters in classic below

Lvl 39 orc hunter
lvl 38 NE Hunter
lvl 30 Priest
Lvl 30 Warlock
Lvl 23 Rogue
Lvl 14 mage
Lvl 13 Warrior

I now realize I want to main a mage. its the funnest (to me) class to play in classic, the rest of the clothies are dot/wand.

After playing for almost 15 years and leveling these characters to this point, It’s super hard for me to find the drive to grind out the boring grind to 60.

I want to see the content, When Vanilla launched I maxed at lvl 27 in the barrens mindlessly running around killing mobs, completely unaware of addons and quest helper…

Give me some reasons and ways you guys made it through the grind? I feel like almost anything else is more entertaining after lvl 20-25. The same boring rots from classic are just killing me…

I do have dual monitor’s and I try to put a show on next to me, but even then I find myself becoming more engaged into the show than the game itself lol. How did you guys push through?

its rough, i wont lie. i maxed this toon almost through aoe grinding and sometimes doing some dungeons

aoe grinding is fun and frustrating at the same time

at the end game mage is not that fun tough, its more about frostbolts. it will change when we switch to fire which is way more engaging

edit: now im trying to level a warlock because i love this class but i really dont have it in me, i dont feel like grinding through leveling again

There’s a rough patch from 35 to 50 for most classes, it’s just a grind. Try putting this on your second monitor, it worked for me: https://classicwow.live/leveling

Seems to me like you don’t enjoy the game as much as you would like to.

I had played Classic Everquest on P1999 before WoW classic, it took 4 months of non-stop play for me to reach max level…and that was considered blistering fast. Took me 2 weeks to go from level 59-60, and people still don’t believe me I did it that fast.

Leveling in WoW is so much easier in comparison.

Well, if you are looking at it as a “grind to level 60” then yeah, you aren’t going to have much fun. I would recommend taking your time. Read quests, do dungeons at level, explore the world. Play with the same mindset as when you get to 60. The levelling process is a good chunk of the game, and the content at 60 is a lot of fun, but also finite, so why not take the time to enjoy getting there?

Immerse yourself in the quests and dungeons. The writing isn’t Shakespeare, but learning a little bit about the lore/world makes things more interesting generally, and makes your character feel more meaningful/immersive.

There are a few addons that help with this, such as this: curseforge. com/wow/addons/immersion

I did virtually all the quests for lvl 20+. You’d be surprised at how few dungeons you really need to run if you try to focus on doing all the quests and killing a couple extra mobs here and there around the quests.

I find getting through it to level 60 more fun than raiding end game. I hate 40 man raids. I play a holy priest and healers aren’t over populated on Bloodsail so I do dungeons as often as I can find a group. healing 5 person dungeons are my favorite part of the game.

As others have pointed out, if you put all your time into one character, you’d have a level 60 by now.

Also it sounds to me like you actually don’t enjoy the game?

Strikes me as odd you can’t be bothered to at least finish the game on 1 character.

I think the main problem is you have too many alts, which means you’ve been done nothing but repeat the same starter zones over and over, which gets boring.

Don’t look at the lvl. Think of adventure everytime u step out. Pick a toon and stick with it.

Go do things dungeons and quest before you know it bam 60.

Why would I try to convince you to keep playing a game you very clearly don’t like?

yes, and also your 2 highest alts are horde and alliance so you’re not getting any synergy from them. I leveled a holy priest and a hunter together, same faction. My hunter farmed cloth and gold and made potions for my priest who made bags for my hunter. The hunter was a troll and the priest undead so for a long time they were leveling in different zones and doing different quests. The priest didn’t go to the barrens and the troll didn’t go to Silverpine etc.

I used YouTube and Netflix.

Having just recently leveled a 3rd character to 60, I can still say that I don’t consider it a grind. Leveling is so fun to me.

Here is my theory on why many consider it to be a grind: they try to level as quickly as possible. If you’re trying to hit that maximum exp per hour by dungeon grinding, if you’re sweating with your /played time, if you’re using a leveling guide to speed up the process because you are only interested in getting level 60 gear, then you make it so hard for yourself to enjoy playing the game before hitting 60.

In all of my 3 60s (and about 7 other characters I’ve leveled to 20+), I’ve never used a quest helper add-on like questie, I’ve not participated in any dungeon grinding for exp past doing any dungeon 1-3 times to complete quests or get a certain gear piece thats a big upgrade, and I’ve always leveled my professions while leveling instead of waiting till 60 to level them.
This guy took me just under 11 days to hit 60. I actually leveled herb/alch + all 3 secondary professions to 300 (315 herb) by level 50. I did a mixture of quests and dungeons and did a ton of world exploration and doing lower level content to help out my brother who was lower leveled. I also wasted time trying to participate in WPvP (even though it wasn’t much of a thing back in phase 1).
It was all fun and never felt like a grind. There were times when I didn’t know where to go for quests (like the high 20s) but I still had fun doing random things until I found where I needed to go.
My warrior and warlock each took me 6 and 7 days /played to hit 60. On these two characters, I only did about 3-4 dungeons during the entire leveling process. I really only did open world questing. Neither did I bother to level fishing or cooking on these guys, but I did hit 300 mine/BS and 300 tailor/enchant before getting to 60 on them.
It helped having already leveled to 60 so I knew where to go for quests at any given level.

I know I typed a lot, but it’s to prove that you can enjoy the leveling process without it feeling grindy AND in a reasonable time. I mean, had I not leveled professions before lvl 60, I easily could’ve shaved off around a day in /played time but I chose to do them to give me a break from questing.

To answer the question, the fastest way to level without buying boosts would probably be questing while on rested exp. Technically, dungeon grinding could be faster, but in my experience, you always waste time trying to get groups together, replacing group members who leave early, and the speed at which you clear dungeons is very inconsistent because there are times when the tank takes forever to pull, you’re carrying a character who’s too low so he aggro ranges a pack and wipes the group, or some other reason.
HOWEVER, WHAT I RECOMMEND, is to actually play the game for fun while leveling. Don’t try to rush to 60 for end game raiding, uninstall Questie and actually read quest texts and the random little notes and books of lore you find, don’t dungeon grind unless you’re doing it socially with friends, level professions as you level, do some PvP, explore the full map of zones, and kill some random mob if you just want to see if you can take it and what it drops.

If dungeon grinding, buying boosts, and auto following some quest helper or leveling guide is fun to you, then by all means do it.
All of the novel that is my post is simply my opinions based off of my experience having leveled several characters without it feeling grindy. I’m even planning on leveling a 4th character on a different server as Alliance simply for the new experience because leveling is fun to me!

Use a leveling guide. Seriously. There’s tons of them and they speed things up drastically

Agree and feel the same , I have 4 60’s. None of them felt like a grind because I played them when I felt like it. Went out of my way to do quest chains I wanted to and often I regretted hiting 60 because I had to skip over areas I wanted to quest though.

I stopped playing this character a few months ago because I couldn’t find groups. Then I started some alts to play whatever I can solo.
I believe more groups would be available if people stop buying boosts.

I’ve always enjoyed leveling. Not sure why everyone always cries about it.

Download questie and work on the green quests. You may have to do 3-4 quests and then switch to another zone for the same thing but it’s how the game was designed. Try to find a dungeon if you have the quests for it.

Other option is to spend some gold on boosts for a level or 2. Goes fast if you have rested xp
