How do you get the Shipyard Heirloom ring (I already have shipyard)

So it looks like I unlocked the Shipyard but I have done 0 missions for it. My only objective is to get the heirloom ring from here. Is there any chance someone remembers what needs to be done?

Do I have to start grinding missions to get better boats? If so which ones should I focus on?

And how exactly do I get the heirloom ring?

I did this within the last year or so, and my memory just isn’t so good.

So… open your heirlooms tab, look up the one you want (there are 3… STR, INT, or AGI), put that name into wowhead and they will tell you exact steps.

The mission quest for the ring is entirely random, you must have ships to get missions.

I do recall, yeah, to get the best chance for success you needed specific ship types AND specific modifiers (forget names, but the things you add to the ships).

You wait. First, you have to build up your ships to Epic level, then, you have to wait for the mission to show up…which it will not do if your ships aren’t high-level enough.

Good luck, OP, I gave up on it.

The missions are RNG based. You just have to wait for them to appear. Could be fast or it could take awhile. If I recall, they only appear in a certain quadrant of the map so try to keep that one side clear of missions and ignore the others. I think it’s the top right section.

While you’re waiting finishing missions will let you level your shipyard and ships. So when they do show up you can get higher odds of actually winning it.

That’s no joke. I got two at the same time and didn’t see the third for months despite having at least 12 shipyards with fully leveled ships. :\

I had the same thing! Got two pretty quick then waited an eternity for the last one to show up. xD

It took me many months to get these back in the day, running with multiple characters. It’s layers of RNG.

One tip i’ll give is that if you run missions with >=90% success chance you may lose the mission, but you won’t lose any ships. <90% and you may lose a ship, so never worth IMO.

Ideally you’ll want to have ~2 of each ship. some crews are better than others, particularly the ones with increased success chance (for defeating experienced captains) but it’s random what you get, which is annoying.

As I recall, you’ll want to keep the upper right (?) area of the map cleared of fog and other obstructions in order to maximize chance of an heirloom mission spawning once you have fully leveled your fleet.

One more thing (from me)…

All of my Garrisons were level 3 since WoD.

I didn’t even realize these rings were available until (let’s say) 12 months ago.

Go to wowhead and it’ll tell you what to do.

YES, you do want to clear out one of the quadrants of missions, keep doing those missions if NOT the ring mission, and the ring mission will be there “soon”.

Once I followed the wowhead info., It took less than 4 days to get all 3 rings. (This includes the (was it?) 18 hour timeframe to complete the ring missions.

(And, I did have 12 guys with a Garrison/shipyard, already maxxed out before I started, which was a big advantage)

You will never get the time investment back from doing this now. You would have to level probably 50 characters.

There is some boss in tanaan ya have to kill to get that spyglass thing or some such then the missions unlock on your shipyard table.

Forget what the item is, so google fu may help with the exact name.

Then it’s just rng and resources to send out the missions.

Did it back in WOD so can’t recall the exact details.

Keep grinding to unlock the greater fleet. The rings are a random mission that pops up.

Captain Ironbeard in Tanaan drops the Ghostly Spyglass blueprint. You need this for the missions to show up.
You do NOT need to actually equip a ship with the spyglass. Just learning the blueprint is enough.

I completely forgot about that requirement.

I hope someone is still reading this but I just want to confirm I need to get my shipyard to lvl3 before I should get the spyglass? I just finished the quest for getting a battleship and I’m in the process of completing my first naval mission

You need level 3 shipyard and ghostly spy glass.

Then complete treasure missions and the rings will pop up at random.

When WoD was live you had to do one mission for each ring.

When the rings were relatively new, I leveled a character with a shipyard ring with the wrong primary stat, just to get the xp bonus. If people asked me about it, it wasn’t to call me out about the stat, it was to ask me how long it took to get the ring! (They can take months to show up as missions, and I only had the one.)

well…that sucks

It guess it isn’t a big deal just takes time. I honestly don’t care which ring I get all I want is the XP boost

I’m pretty sure you can get the spyglass regardless of shipyard level since it’s just an unlock quest like the rest of the blueprints. I’d also suggest picking up the Oil Rig mission if you have the rep, or once you get it. It helps keep you stocked up with oil as long as you keep that section of the map open.
