How do you get gear on classic?

ive recently discovered this GDKP thing and i dont like it, like its already hard to farm gold on classic, how the hell do you get 10k to bid on gear? im being serious could someone politely explain to me how to we “new players” get gold to get geared?

Honestly? Play on a different server if your’s is infested with that trash. GDKP is cancerous playstyle for a cancerous playerbase.

welcome to modern day wow. people will pretend gdkps dont sell the gold they farm enough of to hit the on multiple toons, but theyre a huge source of gold for these sellers.

you have guys saying they’ve always been in wow. the occasional gdkp is fine, but even the new lfr tool on my server is full of gdkps just snapping up all the online tanks and healers they can.

You either join a guild, find a SR run, or run your own raid as most of it is so easy during the pre patch it can be done in greens.

Spam AV for S4 gear, still really good in pve

Most people are just doing AV for gear. You can also get some from the event. A lot of guilds are doing kara runs at the moment too. It’s also the end of the expansion so I wouldn’t worry too much.

AV all day buy S4 gear.

Are you trying to pve? If so I don’t know but pvp wise just bg spam mindlessly and it’ll eventually happen.

AV for s4, belt and bracers can be crafted. Badges can get a ring and trinket. You can also pug kara and za yourself, spam might be a bit annoying.

I thought you split the gold with the raid for gdkp? So everyone gets a cut and then you can use that gold to bid for gear?

They are buying the gold

10k gold? Obvious they bought it with cash or credit card.

When i joined a coupld gdkp during vanilla launch items were going for like 20g up to maybe 100g. Which was somewhat doable. I never specifically farmed for gold, just had what i had from playing but was able to bid and win 2-3 pieces from ZG. Got a good bit of it back at the end when gold was split up to everyone as well.
Quit not long after that because blizzard vanilla doesnt compare to outside vanilla or even og blizzard vanilla.
Didnt have most of this degeneracy around. BLizzard vanilla was actually first time id ever heard of gdkp. Played 2-3 season of vanilla on outside sources.

play on maladath

Anyone not telling you that GDKPs are pay to win is lying to you.

People buy gold, then that gold gets distributed around the raid. That is how they work.

Hop guilds… Need to find a guild that is ramping up for WOTLK, they will be doing gear runs…

The current content is a joke now… You could start your own runs tbh… Find a good tank and start from there.

If getting semi-irrelevant loot for gold is winning in your book sure.

fact is GDKPs will never be as good as real guild runs that get stuff done. You never see GDKPs for progression raids, only when the content is already being plowed through by everyone.

Also i very much doubt any of these gold buying GDKP going people will ever beat me in terms of performance in raids or kill me in pvp. Simply because of experience, people that buy items in GDKPs rarely know how to play, yeah they might be fully geared but it only makes their flops more embarassing.

The only people i see “winning” are the carries that get some gold on the side for carrying scrubs that cant organize themselves to do their own runs.

The only reason i see to hate on GDKPs is from people that are both bad / cant do the content AND dont have gold to spend on items so they get salty.

This guy has all the answers.

You are supposed to get a percentage of the pot at the end of the raid. So for every 10k gold in a 25 man raid you would get 400 gold. if there are 20 10k gold items sold that’s 8,000 gold in the span of just a couple hours.

The trick to GDKP is to join a guild that runs with the same people every week. Then you can just wait for all the whales to blow their gold on things and then a couple weeks later you can collect the scraps at 95% the cost the whales paid. Eventually over time you will become the whale because you didn’t feel the need to gear up ASAP and were just harvesting the greed of other players.

Once rich you can play the game better than they did, By only bidding like 1-2k per item and letting other people outbid you. Reducing your bid each week the more times you lose it causing other players to pay more than you still.

PUG GDKP groups are pretty much you collecting gold unless you got a decent chunk to spend. The benefit of pugs is that they will always be full of high paying players. A guild will have to include some pugs to keep the GDKP pot high at the end.

A guild should only do this once most if not all the guildies are fully geared

People don’t understand that if you run multiple GDKPs on multiple alts, having 10k to spend on gear is not a problem and you don’t really have to buy gold to do so.

By doing GDKPs, you make 1-2-3k gold every time, it piles up pretty quickly if you don’t spend it.

But to answer the original question… join a guild and run their raids? my guild did like 15 raids last week to gear boosts and DKs.

GDKPs require gold.

Here’s how you can make some gold:
