How do you get enemies into melee range when using a pet?

When I attack mobs at range, my pets run out to them so enemies tend to fight where they are. Do pets have the ability to aggro otherwise neutral patrolling mobs? Assuming the answer is yes, how do you pull enemies closer to you? Does selecting passive on my pet prevent them from running out to enemies when I attack them with my ranged weapon?

New to Beast Mastery but I’m enjoying it.

Yes, passive will command the pet to stay by your side. You can then tell it to attack once the mob is within range (assuming it isn’t a caster, in which case it will only move within casting range).

Hi. This is what I do, as a MM Hunter.
I have my pet on passive.
I target a mob.
I give my pet a command to attack, and let my pet engage the mob.
My pet gets aggro.
I call my pet back to me, and he returns, dragging the Mob with him.
Edit: When my pet has pulled the Mob to where I want it, I once again tell my pet to attack. Remember this part.

You get Harpoon at level 14. That’s a handy way to get your target to you. Especially something that’s ranged.

But… The OP wanted to get their pet to bring a mob to them. They never mentioned wanting to go to the mob.

True…

I’m not on my Survival hunter enough to remember to use it.

Don’t forget to cast Heal pet when its running Back No damage mitigation when hit from behind

I used to play with the WoD harpoon, the Grinder? that only worked at Frostfire Ridge. Not too much though, because it would put me right where I didn’t want to be, in melee range of a pissed-off mob.

I thought it was no dodging, no parrying strikes from behind. No damage mitigation, also?
But yes, I agree, use Mend Pet.
