i’ve played whats available for years ive played wukong, im playing elden, hell ive even played persona 3 reload and ff7 i didn’t like either one of those

Like most other things in life right now it has fully begun its late-stage-capitalism dystopian decline. The growth phases are all slowing down so now to make the number go up for shareholders, they must deliver less of what you want for more $$$

I’d argue that everything seemed better when you were younger because you weren’t aware of the horrors of the real world.
Gaming has always had its ups and downs. It’s just with the internet you have way more voices and opinions hitting your brain. Compared to when you were younger, going to like. A blockbuster or something and renting a game for the weekend. And if the game sucked well you still got the whole weekend with it so whatever.
12 year olds also don’t gotta worry about work or money really. So it’s way easier to just LOCK IN on a game and 100 percent it. ( ohhhhhhh all the time spent trying to get all the in game achievements for Ratchet and Clank games )
Grifters were also always a thing for games. But again they’re just very loud now. You had religious grifters in the 90s. Now we got “reee woke dei dei dei” squawkers.

But going to a store, buying a video game and it being complete beats going to steam, buying an early access game for just as much and then that game being linked to stores, DLCs, whatnot.
