How do you even fit some of these rotations?

So I’ve been out of WoW for quite some time, and I was going over guides on WoWHead and I’m reading this demon hunter rotation guide (Havoc: Demonic) And it has 11 steps to it. Likely generated by a program rather than a person, a lot of it is repeat movement, but I’m wondering for a lot of you, How are you setting this up on your actual action bar.

I’m also using ElvUI which I’m probably going to get rid of because it doesn’t seem to change properly when I use metamorphosis, but that’s a problem I can address on my own.

When I left it didn’t seem that complicated, I come back and what I read makes it seem like I need to buy a second keyboard and a rolling-pin just to do anything.

Thanks, dudes.

Once you pass the phase of throwing everything on CD the rotation becomes 3 buttons: you generate fury and blade dc on cd and spend fury on Chaos Strike to avoid capping Fury.

Perhaps I’m wrong, others will chime in I’m certain.

Are you asking how we have ours keybinded and such ? Not sure exactly what youre asking.

That would help too, probably.

I spent 10+ years playing a priest. It was only in the last few that I was like 'oh hey, DPS, what’s that about?"

Not sure what the question is but you just keybind all of your abilities in a way that makes sense. I have specific keys that I always use for certain type of abilities regardless of what class I’m playing (builders, spenders, AOE abilities, CC, CDs, defensives, mobility), sometimes if a spec has too many of one type of those I need to get a bit creative but it’s usually not too common.

As for the rotation or priority, once you have your keybinds assigned you start practicing and building muscle memory, having a good UI to show the CDs of your relevant spells without needing to look at your action bars also helps a lot, in fact once I’m used to the rotation and I’m confident my UI has all the information I need I usually hide the Action Bars (make them fade out I mean).

Shoot me a DM if you woud like some direct help. It all comes down to which of the 3 viable builds that you choose to run. As well as if you plan to do Raiding, Mythic + and or PvP.

The 1st build is generally referred to as the Demonic Build. It is 1,3,1,x,2,x,1
In row 104 it doesn’t matter what you pick, there is quite a bit of utility there so you can choose what is best say on a specific raid boss or M+. I personally go with Soul Rending for much better self healing and often swap to Netherwalk if I need to have an Immunity for a fight like Mythic Behemoth Piercing Bab. So we can solo soak it. In row 108 the best DPS option is Master of the Glaive however Unleashed Power is a nice interrupt/CC and can proc Soul Fragments.

The 2nd build is the Demonic Appetite Build. It is 2,3,1,x,2,x,1. This build is currently the Highest Sustained DPS build we have atm and it has amazing survivabilty.

The 3rd build is the Felblade Build. It is 3,2,1,x,2,x,1. This build has the Best Single Target Burst dps for us however it suffers with a good amount of being fury starved at times.

As far as abilities on your bar goes, we really only have a few buttons in our main rotation then a few CDs and some Oh-shiz CDs to save your life at times.

Felblade + Demonblades + Demonic actually has the fewest number of buttons out of all the talent combos.

I use same set up on all my DPS characters.

Without MMO mouse.

  1. Demons bite (generator)
  2. Chaos strike (filler/spender)
  3. Eye beam (big hitter)
  4. Blade dance (aoe)

I use Q for immo aura and E for Meta
I have S bound to throw glaive for (quick throw.

Shift 1 - blur (1 used alot for generator, makes defensive muscle memory and quick)
Shift 2 - darkness (same thing, easy access used often)

I always use R for stun, Shift R for AOE stun.

C for cage ( always my incap cc)

Starting regular fight.

Q - immo aura,

  1. Demons bite
You now have enough for eye beam. But with immo aura going when you enter demonic (after eye beam) you have fury to spend

3- Eye beam

4- blade dance (while in demonic form you’re going for as many blade dances (2) usually per demonic form.

2 - chaos strike (filler)

1 - demons bite

4 - blade dance (second dance)

Back into 1. Demons bite 2. Chaos strike

Immo aura on CD, Blade Dance on CD

Eye beams coming back up, you’ll want immo aura rolling again (they share same cd basically)

Demons bite
Eye beam
Blade dance

Ect ect ect
