I stopped playing wow after cataclysm. I came back because of the classic hype, and was curious about how the game had progressed (I had heard it was awful but was making strides in a better direction recently) so, I created a warrior. Yes, he was boosted to 110 and it took me a minute to get the hang of that annoying fury whirlwind rotation. But I finally got some okay gear and got my dps up, and then I tried battlegrounds. Of course I was wrecked. But I figured I needed some practice and that’s what I did. But I quickly realized that warrior has become the squishiest class. I was in an arena where a mage blinked 4 times while he rofled me. I’ve been on top of priests who can dance for a few seconds during my dps as the heal, I watch as the other warriors (arms dies even faster) run into the front lines just to be chewed up by paladins in bubbles and wrenched back crying and screaming by DK’s. I’ve watched monks run circles around us with more mobility, the same dps with a huge burst added on the end just because. In dungeons I’m not having fun, I’m watching that damn whirlwind buff. I know how you guys feel about QQ, so that’s all I’ll say about the current game. I grew up on classic, and I remember the ashkhandis and warriors one shotting clothies if they could touch em all, leather and mail another hit away from death. So, how do you guys do it? Do you feel that the warrior has the hidden potential of the godkings they used to be? Or do you run up to a Healer in a BG and feel like you have the dps of a wet noodle? (Also, I’m probably gonna reroll, any idea what classes feel like the warriors of old?)
Not reading a wall of text. So I guess that’s how I don’t do it.
I stopped reading when i saw “warrior is the squishiest class”.
Sorry, i dont have an answer for you.
Mages are hard to get on to, pick better targets. I don’t feel squishy till I get somewhere I probably shouldn’t have gone.
As for dungeons I’m doing better trash and boss DPS than most of what gets brought along, and if i get beat it tends to be another fury warr. I think fury feels great to play, especially compared to warlock which I mained for the 2 tiers prior to this.
D stance, 20% vers, and Conflict and Strife makes you a very, very tank individual.
It was painful to read that, even briefly. Most of the things that stood out to me, are frankly a lack of skill and practice. You don’t have fun in dungeons because of watching the whirlwind buff? Get a better weak aura and practice your aoe rotation enough that you’re not relying on it so much. WW, pew, pew, WW, pew, pew… it’s an easy enough rhythm. If its a source of stress for you, you’re doing something wrong.
The idea of us being squishy, in pve or pvp, is just hilarious. A couple classes have comparable mobility, DHs outstrip us pretty well, and yes, ranged classes have tools to kite us with, just like we have tools to stick on them. You have to be better.
We do amazing damage in raid right now, pretty good in M+, and we seem to do well in regular BGs. After years of avoiding pvp like the plague grinding blood of the enemy got me in there last week, and I’ve been pretty dominate despite minimal pvp experience.
TL;DR - Skill issue folks, nothing to see here
Boosted warrior having issues? Paladin forums that way
