I don’t know if this is a failure of my brain, but I can’t go at least one day without playing, I try to play for 1 hour but I can’t stop and that brings me a lot of damage to my mental and physical health.
easy play another game for the time
I haven’t touched WoW for five days as i’m achievement hunting some of my games. Perhaps that idea will help?
I’m not addicted to WoW, not at all, I can quit anytime I like, just like coffee … No, wait, hold on …
Blizzard cured me of it.
Lol it was way more addictive in the past.
Now? WoW feels like brushing teeth sometimes. Just routine and annoying, with some fun bits between.
Well, what would you do if your computer was broken?
You deal with it just like any addiction. one step at a time. there is no magic cure. Just because its a video game and not crack doesn’t mean the addiction is any different. If you truly cant get a hold of it, and its causing problems in other parts of your life. try and talk to someone about it, and I dont mean us on GD.
For those who get addicted easily, seek help. Not a jab. I mean it. get help. It is serious stuff and can ruin your life.
For folks like me. You just kinda realize one day you are not having fun and there is nothing in game you really care for. Then you just don’t log on for a while. Then you remember to stop the recurring subscription.
Then you go do something else.
It is simple for me. If one of my cats is laying in the computer chair it wins. I just watch tv for awhile or take a nap. I might go to sleep with one cat in the chair and wake up with a different cat in the chair. But life goes on and I don’t feel deprived for missing out on playing WOW. Pets can be the best distractions for addiction.
Find different things to balance out your dopamine hits. Create something, exercise, read something, learn a new skill… Whatever it is… We all seek that feeling, we just have to maintain balance. Oh, and learn to forgive yourself when you mess up and then come back to center.
Lots of red bull and recreational drug use allows me to continue my addiction successfully.
You play until you hate it. Then it sorta takes care of itself.
I’m not sure having your decision making based on a creature that constantly eats its own a$$ is the right way to go.
i just go get addicted to some other game until a newer and even shinier game comes out for me to get addicted to
I drink till I pass out. Keeps me from playing too much AND I’m well rested because I drink a lot. It may be a bigger problem than the WoW, TBH.
Realize that this is how the game is designed, and then take control of your actions, which is possible with the pre-frontal cortex, start cutting back and filling that time with anything else. It can be walking, stretching, cooking, there’s tons of productive things to do outside of the game.
All entertainment products are “designed” to get people sucked in. mo’ people, mo’ money. most wow players don’t let the game take over there life, there is a balance. but certain personalities will get sucked in and swallowed up. you can see it an any type of fandom. look at the way soccer fans act.
I had a hard time limiting myself during BFA and during SL a bit. What you need to understand is that in order to complete an average adult’s responsibilities and take care of yourself you will probably need to dial it back to about 15-20 hours per week at most.
If you have kids and/or a significant other - cut that in half. There is no way around it, and ignoring it will not do anything aside from cause you guilt and grief. Take a break and really think about the amount of time you should actually be spending on this game looks like versus what you are currently doing.
