How do you change forms as druid?

Hi everyone!

I recently swapped from playing prevoker to Resto Druid (for multiple reasons). I absolutely love it, but I’m curious to find out how other druids handle all the various form swapping.

With 10.0.5 it’s looking like balance affinity is going to overtake kittyweaving, and I’m looking at my keybinds and wondering where on earth I will find room to add balance form as a keybind.

Do you change forms by clicking on the stance bar? Do you have them each as keybinds? I’ve heard about tying the mouse scroll into the various forms, but that sounds kind of annoying because I’m so used to using that to zoom in/out.

Any advice or tips from more experienced Druids are much appreciated.

Mine is #4

Using the scroll? How do you zoom in/out then?

i have most forms in the mouse (logitech g600)
Cat form (G8) Travel form (G7) Bear form " < > key "(in spanish keyboard is near the " Z " key ) Moonkin form (G15). aslo in humanoid form have the cat form in 1,2,3,4, since each form have own barr

Change forms? You mean I shouldn’t just sit in one form all the time?

shift mmb= cheetah
Ctrl rmb=boomy
ctrl space=bear
shift space=cat

owl: x, cat: alt-x, bear: shift-x

Then for other classes that have similar things like stances for warrior, I’ll use x iterations for different stances.

This…sounds promising. I think I’ll give this a try. It’s the one part of druid I struggle with. Luckily as resto I rarely need to change form, but boomboxing is making a comeback tomorrow and I try to play optimally.

Logitech G600 as well. Mouse wheel toggles left/right alone with scrolling for camera normal function. I use index finger toggle mouse wheel side to side for forms and add shift modifier for stealth/wearbear.

I’ve had a MMO mouse for years and never realized the left/right functionality. How did you change the forms to left/right and shift left/right? Set up a separate keybindings skillbar for it? Next time I log in I’ll see if there’s a preset stance keybinding I can change.

Hi Shinryu,

/cast [stance:3] Cat Form
/cast [modifier:shift] Bear Form
/cast [stance:1] Bear Form
/cast Cat Form

I use this for Cat and Bear. Bound to one key w/ shift as my Modifier.

Since we are going back to needing Moonkin as of tomorrow. I always just run it with a Moonfire macro. So it’ll shift me to Moonkin and then i apply my moonfire etc.

/cast [noform:4] Moonkin Form;
[@mouseover,harm,nodead] [] Moonfire

Hi Shinryu,

Above is me. Not sure why it posted on that toon. Anyways, Good Luck!

Thank you! I have my moonfire macro’d to help/harm with Rejuv, so I’m not sure I can macro Moonkin form to it as well. I might try this if I change up my help/harms though.

I go into blizz “key bind mode”. Now it’s as easy as “edit mode/click spell bar/ click keybind. I mouse over my cat icon and mouse toggle right and ShiftRight for stealth cat icon. Then it sets those key binds.
The ONLY thing you might have to do extra is check your mouse default key binds. example: your toggle right might be the same as scroll up. If that’s the case you will overwrite your camera zoom. In this instance you’d need to go to mouse software and make mouse toggle some rando command like num2 num3. Then your zoom in and out will be isolated from toggle left/right. Oh and I literally put my forms on a spellbar. I did not keybind it on my stance bar. But it might work the same way if you want.

shift + ~
ctrl + ~

some hotbars
opie for things like mount form or travel form

Shift + Mouse Scoll Up - Bear
Shift + Mouse Scroll Down - Cat
Shift + 2 - Moonkin if Balance, Cat+Prowl if anything else, Shadowmeld if in combat
G4 - Travel Form (I think this is like F9 or something)

I use the addon Opie for my forms and keybind it to one of my mouse buttons.
It’s amazing!

My main form for the spec is always the tilde key.

I treat the other forms like a utility spell. Bear sits with my defensives, cat with my speed utility.

Travel form/mount is an extra mouse button with a shift modifier.

When it comes to Druiding, the base UI just doesn’t cut it for me. I use 10 bars, with the main one switching whenever I change forms.

If you are healing you don’t really need those keybound. If you hit stamp or incap roar in caster it autoputs you in bear. Dash it auto puts you in cat. Once you cast a heal it auto puts you back in caster.

If you push a key to go into form you also have to then hit incap roar for another gcd right?

I have my prowl/stealth to mousewheel up as well as going into cat(if not in it) or while in combat . Zooming in and out with page up and down. You zoom in and out far far less than you need to prowl or go cat in combat.

It gives a major advantage as a Rogue because it is spamming the input so fast that you will stealth and insta quicksap faster than the other rogue can key input stealth and sap. Also helps for feral too when it comes to quick form swapping or quick prowls for reset.
