Not to sound anti-social but I really don’t want to deal with other people now, I just want to do my content then log off, as I haven’t seen anyone outside of my own friendship bubble worth meeting recently, most people are nothing but a disappointment, so i was wondering how do I turn off all whispers in-game? I heard that you can…
At the top of your chat pane is a tab from which you can select Settings, among those options are which Chat channels are displayed. Turn off /Whisper there, and you won’t receive them.
Thanks.
What will a person whispering me receive if they attempt to contact me?
I am not sure. But I don’t think it will appear that you blocked them.
Best guess, and most likely, is that they will simply not see a reply.
they’ll get no feedback about it
what the above poster suggested just stops the whispers appearing in your chat.
other people will likely think you’re just not responding
If you want to block out things like guild invites, whispers, etc then I’d recommend badboy, it’s an addon that lets you turn off those things and even block certain keywords (If you want to be in trade chat without politics being the main thing, you can block the President’s name and other things and those messages will not be shown to you).
And if you use this addon I think it will notify them that they can’t whisper you or something.
I normally wouldn’t mind people talking about politics, but when it gets to the level where people are so partisan in their views that the world is on the brink of civil war like this month, that’s when I try to avoid it. Don’t want to get caught in the crossfire, I prefer to just to wait it out and see which side is going to be the winning side…
But the real problem is with more lockdowns going on, more people I think are going to start taking gaming a little too seriously for my liking, and this is something I’d prefer to avoid.
I remember back in the old days where we would just ignore things with our mind.
It’s not always that simple, especially if they are guildies, even if you the GM you can’t just kick people out and stuff, sometimes you just have to ignore them and hope they disappear.
one thing ive set up on my toons is some extra chat tabs.
one show only party/raid/say/yell/whisper, basically for group content when i dont want other chanels.
and another that hides guild/whispers for when i just want to be alone to do things.
you can make these by right clicking a chat tab and selecting ‘new window’ (or thereabouts) and then go into the chat settings for the tab and selecting which chanels to show.
then just select the appropriate chat tab for the level of socializing you feel like.
There’s not going to be a civil war and the winning side will be the government side lol
1 go to batttle net and appear offline.
2. right click chat window, select settings
3. under chat uncheck whispers
4. under other uncheck creature whispers [unless the mobs whisper is ok]
or search google for a add on that does it.
Oh ouch my feelings. I do nothing but praise the undead and this is what I get.
What a slap in the face.
Way back before Blizzard created a default /w window, I made my own and for guild chat. I used to miss raid invites (I kept WoW sound turned down) and got ‘unsolicited’ invites. lol
my brain can’t get this to compute.
Turn off the TV. The demoralization propaganda is working too well on you.
Get off Facebook, delete reddit.
Ive tried something in the settings…never has worked for me. I still get whispers.
I do have people saying I should take a 30 day break from the internet actually for some reason and experience more of the ‘real world’.
What is reality though, really?
He might live in D.C. The crazies apparently are planning more ‘marches’ for inauguration day.
You’re playing a social game that has masses of people, dodging them all isn’t reasonable thinking.
If the game population is upsetting you this much then it’s time to step away.
