How do you approach Balance pvp?

In battlegrounds, 1v1 wpvp, arenas or other types of pvp, how do you play your Boomie? What strategies do you use? Is it fun? I’ve mostly just pvp’d as resto or feral.

Skill capped had a pretty good guide for Balance PvP in Shadowlands. Some stuff might change before release, but they usually update the guide shortly after.

One of the biggest things I got used to was combining Renewal with Celestial Guardian (pvp talent) & Guardian Affinity. It’s more so for arena, I feel, since surviving that ‘go’ from an enemy is the most important thing.

I actually prefer Wild Charge, Resto Affinity for wpvp and bgs.

Hey man, I actually got glad this season as primarily boomy. I’d provide insight but to be honest your question is kind of vague. Is there anything specific you wanted to know? Otherwise for “how to play” I’d say keep dots up, clone targets frequently depending on the situation and do as much damages as possible :stuck_out_tongue:

Boomy excels at spread pressure through rot, being very tanky compared to most casters, being far more mobile than almost any caster, and having spammable CC.

Yeah, the question I wrote was pretty vague, my bad. Honestly though, I don’t know much about Balance on a higher level and kind of just wanted any info I could find. I leveled as it during the last 2 xpacs, but that’s about it. It was cool to see your reply, as I’ve actually noticed some really helpful posts from you on druids in the past, and it seems like you know the class well.

Which leads me to ask–I thought you were a mostly Feral player, but maybe I just took that vibe from the Feral feedback you’ve written…out of curiosity, why did you do mostly Balance in arenas this time?

And, again, just plainly stating that it’s a dot class that focuses on spreading pressure, leans on its mobility, tankiness and spammable CC…that’s part of the answer I was looking for. it’s surprising how much internet searching I need to do to find basic info like that. This game’s learning curve is such that, a lot of the guides seem to be for folks that alread know stuff like that, while I have been too busy to be all-in on this game for over 10 years. So yeah, simple and vague answers are fine :+1:

“in kitty form with kitty abilities with Guardian affinity”

Wait that guy in the video thinks the dots do damage? To the point they wasted a legendary slot for THAT one lol? Guy is fried.

Hey, this is really helpful, thank you. I love skill capped vids too

No sweat. Also I think Flapz has achieved high ratings as both Feral and Balance and a safe bet to say he’s knowledgeable about both specs.

Idk, I mean I’d take into some consideration what a rank 1 Bal druid is saying.

Give and take honestly. Top rated raiding guilds say X class is unviable in cutting edge content so the sheeple follow suit and damn said class/spec in the other 98% of content.

Case and point: Feral/Guardian druids in high M+ keys/mythic raiding.

As for the DoTs, I didn’t watch the video so not sure if he’s talking about Balance or Feral, but in PvP, Feral DoTs are negligible through passive healing sadly

Ah alrighty. Well hey first off I’ll say I appreciate the acknowledgement. I try and offer the best, unbiased info I can.

To give more perspective or history about myself (to answer your question about my main spec) I’ve played since vanilla. I started as feral in Vanilla and TBC. I dabbled in moonkin I think either in TBC or wrath just to see what it was like but I’ve essentially played feral for all of my wow time after that, and since. I joined the military and was busy with a lot of changes and ended up taking many breaks. I don’t think I played cata much at all and not all of wod or legion. I started heavily again in BFA though and I went moonkin just for a change of pace. So basically I played balance mostly this xpac simply because I decided to play this spec. It wasn’t because feral was worse or anything. I did however make a feral set this past season and I’ve done +20s and 2400 rated games on it, I just primarily play boomy in arena because I’m more accustomed to it (this expansion anyway) and I wanted to push glad (which I finally did actually). I’ve always been primarily a pvp oriented person but I enjoy pve content as well and if I had a more stable work schedule with more free time I’d likely raid but instead I just pug mythic raids when I can. I’ve played more pve feral than boomy lately though. I think it does better in mythics. I always end at at least 100k.

So sorry, long winded but thorough :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll answer more about pvp later on, I gotta do some stuff. Just got off work.
