How do you Alt in this expansion?

I want to play alts but I already have to treat this game like a second job just to keep my main current. WHAT DO!?!

I found it extremely easy to initiate my alt. I first leveled 5 alts to 60, with a few remaining. Then I focused on the alt I prefer the most - warrior. Took me two weeks to catch up. Currently 19 rep with covenant. Sure, I’m deficient with anima but no big deal. I also caught up quickly with Ash.

I’m gearing up to start working on two alts. The key focus? Do all your covenant quests. Not only will you be caught up with your covenant, but you also get gear. If Venthyr, you can get 184? gear during your second week.

I’ve had all kinds of plans for my army of alts for this expansion - one of each class. But some unexpected things happened along the way - I fell in love with playing melee classes. I really love Maldraxxus and all things Necrolord.

So I get good feels by playing my DK, chilling to TOOL or A Perfect Circle, getting stuff done (slowly, to be sure), and that’s enough for me right now.

How is your main a second job? That’s a genuine question. I raid two times a week and make sure to do at least one M+ on this guy, and then my two weekly Torghast runs. Outside of that, it’s two quests and the Campaign which ends this week, and then I’m on to my two alts that I’ve kept up on. I think I spend, outside of 6 hours for raid, a total of 4 hours on my main. 10 hours in 7 days doesn’t feel too bad.

I started late and have had to play the catch up game. Its not as bad now that I am mostly caught up but I’ve been pretty much had to no life it the past couple weeks to get to this point. The thought of having to do all the stuff I just did again is kind of a huge turn off whenever I think of making an alt. Its kind of dumb that renown level, venari rep, and possibly torgast stuff is not account wide.

So how I play an alt is like I pretty much always have, when I feel like playing them instead of my main I do. I don’t try to rush them to being mythic geared, I just play them and progress as it comes. I have no reason to try and min/max and do the hardest content on a character that is meant to be a breather.

Level 50-60 and give myself 100 lashes for even doing such a brutal thing, log off and do something else.

To not care too much about my alts progression? They just exist for me to see the other covenants stories and get the pets/mounts from the other covenants that I can’t on my main.

Don’t expect your alt and your main to be on the same level a month into the expansion.

Press the middle one. No, the other middle one.

But how do you have enough time to work on your alts at the same time keeping up with all the SL chores with your main? I have yet to even log into an alt this expansion.

Try to level 1-50, drop that alt and start another. Get drunk in the general forums a lot…hic!

I wouldn’t focus on Ve’nari rep. Torghast has an event this week, and it may help with under geared alts. Plus be grateful you got to skip the awful grind to be even able to queue for Heroics, the ability to gear up alts with the Covenant armor is pretty good.

Catching up is definitely a lot at once, but at least you can get through it relatively quickly. And not be locked behind Renown.

What would your alts be for? M+ or raiding or PvP? It shouldn’t be terrible to just do what you can when, that’s what I’ve done for my other two alts at 60.

I spend about the same time as you, and I can’t get most of that done, let alone hop on an alt. You must be a better man than me.

Nah, I’m nobody important or impressive. Just a cow finding this expansion surprisingly enjoyable.

I am a better man than you. I’m an Alt and my boss leveled me in two weeks. Look at me - Beefy, angry and full of rage. Ready for Twisting Corridors Layer 8.

Did you play in 8.3?

Nope didn’t play any BFA. Played a bit of WOD and quit in Legion because of the stupid artifact weapon grind. Heard BFA had the same mechanic so just decided to nope out on it. I understand WOD definitely had its problems but playing alts was easy and rewarding at least in that expansion. I just want to level pvp alts but all the extra stuff you have to do to semi competitive in pvp is silly.
