I see a LOT of quests dealing with huge honking spiders, how do you people with the phobia deal with it?
Do you avoid the quest if you can? Do you grin-and-bear it?

Power fantasy. They are most of the time weaker than me. Therefore burn it with fire… Or squish it otherwise.

phobias really don’t effect me if it’s not real. if something is on the screen I know it’s not real and it’s not physical. so why fear it? im only scared of real spooders.

Same reason horror movies exist I guess, some horror movies could use giant spiders and it’s considered 2spoopy4me.

Yeah I can’t stand spiders in real life or movies, but in games I’ve never had issues with them. In fact my favorite character to play for years back in like 2013 was Arachne from Smite.
That what real spiders want you to believe. Until a real one is on your screen blocking the digital one…
I’m playing Grounded now and they have an arachnaphobia setting that makes the spiders look less spider-like. I think at the highest setting they look like smiling blobs, which might be more frightening than just a spider.

I hate spiders this game has too many of them sooo… exterminations are in order I’m up to kill everyone of them!
They just creep me out.
I dont think I have extreme phobias.
My fear of heights (yet fine flying planes), or not a fan of bugs irl yet I am fine with having them as pets in WoW.
Idk I just process things on my screen as not real and not a threat.
Except when falling in game. That sucks lol it feels weird so I alt tab and skip out if I know Im going to die. Like the many dismounting bugs there are in the game. Like dismounting my the maw chains in Zereth Mortis.
I got good news for you about spiders IRL.
I’m not afraid of spiders at all. Spiders are our friends. Just look at this guy:

all I’ll say is I’m glad they shrunk over millions of years. If I ever saw a prehistoric giant insect I think I’d have to burn the whole city down.

Most of the spiders in WoW are not designed in such a way that they look realistic, so I’m able to divorce myself from the fear, although the BFA ones that hang from the webs got to me a little.
The spiders in Grounded bother me more than WoW spiders honestly.
