How do the placement games work?

I read the forums here and there and have seen people talk about the SS placement games.

I just fired up a pally to crank out games on holy for fun.

In the first game I was at 1530 MMR with a 1550 lobby. Went 3-3.

Next game my MMR is 1150… ok. went 4-2.

Third game zone in and my MMR is 1200. went 4-2.

Fourth game 1240. went 4-2 again. Last one I played.

This is the only character where I experienced such strange MMRs to start. It’s the first three games correct? So going 11 - 7 in placements netted me a placement of 1240MMR? Seems kinda janked.

Either way I’ll take it makes farming the conq way easier. I’ve seen people complain about the placement games but never experienced anything odd with them until just now with a holy pally.

i tanked my druid to farm conq to play balance, and i’ll tell ya what… would not recommend, shuffles last 20 min cause nobody can kill anything

You definitely didn’t go 3-3 and drop 450 mmr. You went 0-6 Bud

literally no clue i have a 60% win rate on one of my characters and somehow lost points at 1500 mmr

feels like a crap shoot

You can go 5-1 and gain 18.
Then go 1-5 and lose 35.
Both with pretty much identical mmr to cr differential.
