How Do Ppl Have 1 Character

Sad times.

For me it’s a matter of: how involved do I want to be with this game?. Beyond the main, even doing another spec: this means another round of Everything I Had To Do Once, again and again and again. No thanks. I simply do not wish to have the game take up that much of my time and energy. If I get bored with my main, I go do something IRL.

BTW, for what it’s worth: I’ve always been amazed by players who have multiple characters. Hats off to you for your commitment.

This character has been my main since vanilla. All main activities are done on her (dungeons, raids, achievements, transmog gear, battle pets, etc.).

I have the opposite of ADD. I’m a completionist (I know that’s not really a word) and I attribute it to a slight form of OCD. She’s geared mostly through raids and some M+, I had to level my neck to max, I had to level my cloak to max, and in my spare time I do pet battles and pet battle dungeons, thus creating the need to collect all the pets, which I’m still working on.

I do have 5 other max level characters all geared through world quests, but they are support characters for my main with professions, like my jewelcrafter, enchanter, scribe, so I’m self sufficient and rarely have to buy raiding necessities from the AH. One of those are also a max level horde character that I use specifically to obtain horde only pets.

I usually pick two mains for an expansion, one Horde, one Alliance. I’ll LEVEL alts but I won’t play them at endgame usually.

This is the only character I really play.

I have more than enough things to keep me busy during login… I’ll never understand how people can play MORE than one character.

Easy. I have very limited time to play. Doing the Vale and Uldum dailies leaves me with Just enough time to accomplish one other random task. I don’t really have time for alts.

I haven’t stuck to a character in years. This expansion has been a veritable revolving door, 9 capped characters, none I’ve completed much on individually (a rep here or there to unlock the next one).

I actually appreciate that FF14 has the job system, so you can theoretically be all classes on one character, and every race can be any class. Meaning all my rep and stuff like that will stick around, there’s a single race I’m happy with so I won’t need to start everything completely over every time I get bored with my class. Changing my race is only a 10-spot so if I did want some novelty, that still beats rolling another character.

I mean, if I only played one character I’d probably have pathfinder. And 470 ilvl. Or I’d just be unsubbed. I usually hit a wall once emissaries are sidegrades, my latest foray is into classic because I think I’ve done just about everything I want to do in BfA.

Yeah, I should go grind assaults on this character, no, I’m not excited because there’s like 2 individual pieces that could be an upgrade. Corruption is actually a demotivator because I like where I’m at right now, messing with it would be just that, messy, whether it’s by leveling the cloak or hoping I get a specific affix back on an upgrade.

Bottom line, the way this game is set up, I don’t see how I could ever pick a single character and stick with it. I think FF14 works the way it does because they wanted to more strongly encourage people to main one character (they even charge you $3 less if you stick to a single character).

This game doesn’t so much encourage maining as discourage alts, so you end up with people like me who spin their wheels and never get much done because we’re resetting everything to zero every other month or so.

I have several alts. 6 of them are in the 440-450 range and I wish I could have stuck with just one toon all expansion, but it has been rough to try and find something I consistently enjoy. I also play at weird hours at night.

I played my DH only all BFA long because of the grinds till recently with a new raid alt which doesn’t do much damage. Its not hard at all.
