I admire people that manage to just stick to one character (for the most part) and get all of their gear, achievements, etc on that character. I must have crazy ADD or something because I cannot just play one character, and as a downfall none of them ever really get far in anything (the most geared I have right now is like…447 or something and that’s strictly off WQ).
How do you guys just main one character? Every time I try I seem to run out of things to do very quickly for the week and just stand in main cities super bored.

It’s just a personality thing.
My original character I played exclusively for 8 months because I felt invested in the lore of that character.
Now I have more characters but honestly it’s mostly because I felt like I would ‘miss out’ on the opportunity both with Korraks and this experience boost.
If they didn’t come around I’d still be playing my first character.

Different mindsets, some people like to be focused on a single character, then there are weirdos like me who has 23 max level characters.

I have 14 at max level but at least Jerauld has a good ilvl and some stuff under his belt
I feel so damn distracted that with all my toons that I can’t get anything done.
It’s kind of overwhelming tbh.
Fine with maining this toon currently, and play 11 other characters. Which altogether is all 12 playable classes. Full bang for the 15 bucks and having nothing more or less than that is totally fine since I’m not swamped with alts. And having this toon being clearly designated as my main I can work on stuff better.
Sometimes I am in a different mood and may be playing my kitty Druid a lot more. Sometimes I play the others. But I always come back to my good ol’ DK.
It’s based on the content people like to do. With LFG other than looking for a group there should be no reason you’re sitting in a main city. You can farm xmog/pvp/m+/raid/pet battle/achieve hunt.
Looking at your armory, you seem like the type that sticks to one character. How do you do it? Do you not get bored of that class?
My alts are other games, not other WoW characters

Then there are weirdos like me with 203 alts at lvl 20 something.
When I can’t make more toons I start deleting. Leveling in retail is a boringly super empty sadness and filled with places that you remember being popular and now your best friend is a multiboxing toaster.
I’ve tried to get another max alt, but it’s just not in me. Plus, BFA made it super alt unfriendly with the loom nerf.

To me anything below level 60 does not count. They’re more like samples, mules, or templates waiting to be played. Once you past level 60 its safe to say its something you actually plan on playing for the long haul.

Depends on whether or not I like that one class enough to just play it. I usually am always looking for a different main though because I there might be another fun subclass I’d enjoy.
I’m with you op. I got my main and like 40 other toons. Got 3-4 in the 110-120, a few on the 60s and all the others on under 60
Always gatta try the other classes and combos

There’s SO much to do in this game as a completionist.
I literally never run out of things to do.
As a result, this character’s gear is leagues better than my 14 WQ-geared alts who all have ilevels below 445. (But each have the cloak!)

Haha I guess it is. People that stick to one character fascinate me. I’m so jealous of them lol

I was honestly fine for years. I stuck to spending 90+% of my time on my rogue. Then WoD broke me. Now with DHs I can’t decide on a toon to stick to. I like different toons for different things.

Its easier for me to get bored of the content itself, like i’m burned out of BFA dungeon content, a new +10 affix doesn’t change the fact i’d still be running around Waycrest manor corridors, another character/spec wouldn’t change that either so i’d sooner move to other games than making other characters.

I find it interesting, the people that can stick to one character for years and years, but it seems like they are limiting themselves massively. Various stories, quests, races, classes, they all have different flavor, so I hope the people who settled on one class and race at least tried everything first and decided the one they only play is the best to them, otherwise I don’t really get it, haha.
Granted, overall, playing multiple characters means probably what, 90% of the content is the same stuff over and over, with the exception of class halls and a few other things, so as far as story and main quests go, I can see in some ways not wanting to do it all again. Everyone is different though, and I don’t hate on a single person for the way they want to play.
I play this game to do things I find challenging, I do those things on the class I find the most fun rotationally / from a gameplay perspective. Not for the story, not to collect things, not for achievements, pets, lore, the ‘fun’ of levelling, or wandering around one shotting things in old content.
If I dont have anything I want to do I play a different game or do something else entirely.
I know for me, playing every class in all of the content I do really helps me understand what is going on a lot better in a group setting.
You instantly understand that those puddles are not bad, its that druid over there or… you get the picture. Oversimplification of course but.
