If I run BFD this lockout but go to tank for some friends that havent ran it yet, am I still able to go in or am I more or less unable to help them.
You’re locked to a raid ID. If they join you, you will lock them to your raid ID. If you try to join them, you won’t see them because their progress is before your raid ID.
I could be wrong, but I am fairly sure how that raid locks work as they did in the past.

Mostly right.
You won’t even be able to zone in. And the progress doesn’t matter.
A 0/7 player can join a x/7 but they’d be locked to any bosses prior to that point.
But if either player has killed 1 or more bosses they’re locked from each other.
Even if you’re 1/7 and they’re 5/7 or both 5/7 you still can’t join them, or vice versa.
if you guys are right, this system sucks for people who want to play with their friends even after they already did raids for the week

lockout is 3 days so you can do two raids per week.
also, in retail there is per-boss lootlocks, and every time someone asks a friend to join, they says they’re ‘loot locked’ and don’t join.
so … yeah…
why do people always try to speak for everyone else? so annoying 
i’ve joined friends before in retail to kill bosses even tho i dont get loot
the point is that we dont even have the option to do it with the current system
doesnt matter if the raid lockout is 3 days or 1 day.
if i complete the raid. i still want to be able to join a raid even if i get no loot to play with my friends that didnt complete it yet.
people do not have the exact same synced schedules. christ.
any system design that stops you from playing with your friends its a stupidly designed system. end of story.

because we are all affected by your … less-than-good… ideas, and we know how they played out where they were implemented. So we are explaining to you why you’re wrong, so you don’t get stuck with the idea that your opinion is good. Since there is objective evidence of its failure every time it was tried.

this is false. I speak for us all. we will not be silenced by your kind.
Then level an alt. We don’t have, nor do we want personal loot in classic. If players were allowed to raid at will, it would be heavily exploitable. BFD is a 30-45min raid. If we went with your suggestion, nothing would stop a raid from completing it, then subbing in 1-2 alts at a time to re-clear it and gear them up incredibly quickly with no other competition.
It would be even worse once we actually hit endgame and GDKPs start to take over. If you want to play with your friends, then don’t join other people’s raids. It’s not that hard. Or, as I said at the start, level an alt.

so what? this a game. ment for fun solo or with friends. if you really care that some top 0.01% raiding guild that you will never be a apart of has an advantage because they can gear out alts faster thats a you problem

It gives you a character to raid with your friends. Unless you also join someone else’s raid with that character as well.
There are a great many other things to do other than raiding. Here’s the thing though, you aren’t asking why you can’t run BFD 10 times a day without getting loot, you want to play with your friend, just not when you get loot…
My guess, you know it’s exploitable, and want this change so that you can exploit it. Run along back to retail. That or your friend sucks at the game and you don’t want to risk your loot on playing with them…Or, could it be that you are the friend that needs to be carried?
