How do last second announcements help?

Not only did it suck. It was devastating for some people who ranked late. Ofcourse you could say it was their fault for doing it so late, but a 1 or 2 week notice when you are lets say aiming for rank 14 but just reached 13 is like “why?” You devalue players time… now its whatever I guess but just shows they dont care.

If you need several weeks to prepare for SWP, maybe you’re not cut out for SWP.

RNG gods say “You don’t get to do SWP because you don’t have the gear” you mean.

Very few people will remember the stuff with the late Classic ranking but I do.

I met quite a few of the people who ranked late. I was looking for things to do and ranked an ally at the end of Classic. I ran with the AV cross-realm premades at the time where I met quite a few people from different servers. Some of them got their ranks and some of them did not. Does it matter ultimately? No. Did it matter to them? Yes… and ultimatey all that matters is what is best for each player. That kind of thing does have to be planned for.

A little notice for things goes a long way.

If a company doesn’t know they can hit a date until a week or less beforehand, there’s something seriously wrong.

On top of that, there’s no logic in what you say regarding the link between when they know they can hit a date, and when they announce that day.

For example, they announced May 12th. Which means obviously it would be ready May 19th or May 26th. If they know they can hit a date a week out then by extension they can hit a date even further out.

Yes its really hard to just say it releases in 3 weeks or so. Its not like they have the content ready anyway… oh wait…

I would of been able to put vacation days in.

I can’t put PTO with a 1 week notice.

This isn’t a normal company, this is game development. You can announce a week out and have to delay because a critical bug arose.

There’s a reason most game companies announce a week or so before.

Oh please. They’re rereleasing a 14 year old game. By the way, back in 2008 how long before 2.4 did they announce when the patch would release?

I would be absolutely shocked if it was a week before it hit.

I mean, you won’t find info on it, but almost ever patch is announced 4-7 days before.

And it’s not rereleasing a 14 year old game, it’s rereleasing a 14 year old game on the engine made for the modern version.

This may sound blunt but they don’t plan the release of things around when you personally can take time off of work.

Many of us have been full clearing BT for weeks now. We want new content.

Where did I say they should delay the content release?

Announcing it maybe 2 weeks before it releases is all I’m asking for…

I have been clearing longer than you most likely and I am ready for sunwell that doesn’t mean I didn’t want to take off for it and by then waiting to announce it I can’t.

If you think back in the day they gave you 4-7 days notice before releasing a big patch, you’d be sadly mistaken.

Maybe I’m misremembering but it’s hard to believe you wouldn’t know until less than a week.

There’s understandable reasons back in 2008 to release content as soon as it’s ready, and thus due to how the industry works there might not be much warning.

But with TBC Classic they can release this content whenever they want, on whatever schedule they want. There’s really no excuse not to give advance warning.

Where did I say that you asked that?

You’re asking them to plan their announcements around your work schedule and it doesn’t really work like that, sorry to say.

Oh please this isn’t a spur of the moment thing, they knew well ahead of time when they would launch sunwell.

It’s pretty obvious all the care about at this point is the nice quarterly bump they’ll get when they release WotLK-C. I really don’t know what happened somewhere in P1 or P2 but they sure seemed to just give up and want to rush TBC to the end as quick as they could.

I think it was more 7-10 days if i recall. Usually what we had to do is figure 3-4 weeks after the end of the pvp season the next patch would roll out but wouldnt know until a couple weeks after that.

Blizzard has always been terrible at patch announcements

Took some digging, but 2.4 was announced 3/18/08 for a 3/25/08 release date, oh my, 7 days.

I usually had to call in to work to play patch day cause of the short notice. Worth it

I already addressed that in the previous post. Admittedly I thought it was longer.

But of course you give zero evidence for your claim, so I’m just trusting it. Still, again the reasons for short notice back in 2008 don’t really apply to 2022 Classic.

It has no impact on me anyway. I don’t even play TBCC, but I don’t understand people defending this lack of communication.
