Coming from someone living where there is no Mexican food at all, I’d do bad things for some taco bell.
I guess “bad things” would indeed include using a Fortnite taco dealer to get your contraband. Of course, considering it is a Fortnite taco dealer, he probably looks something like this…
In which case, he’s probably not all that bad. He just thinks he is.
(sorry to necro) dang inflation has hit like an mf. token prices are up more than 100% in 5 years
Price generally trends upwards towards the end of the expansion and tapers off heavily around launch when people want gold going into the new content.
Ah okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the response!
Would this method still work to buy the Midnight xpac?
How do you turn WoW Tokens into Blizzard Balance? I thought they could only be redeemed for game time.
Why wouldn’t it?
Assuming you’ve never redeemed a token before. Once you’ve purchased one from the AH, you get the option upon using it to either add game time, or add $15 of balance to your Blizzard account.
Here’s the amount of gold you’d need for each version of Midnight at the current price of roughly 299K gold for one token (obviously, adjust accordingly depending on current market prices):
Base: $49.99 USD (Four tokens for $60 USD in credit: 1.196M gold)
Heroic: $69.99 USD (Five tokens for $75 USD in credit: 1.495M gold)
Epic: $89.99 USD (Six tokens for $90 USD in credit: 1.794M gold)
Do bear in mind that those prices do NOT take taxes into account. For the Base/Heroic versions, that really shouldn’t be an issue in 90% of cases as you’ll have extra funds left over, but be aware that Heroic might need a small cash influx if you’re in a state with really high sales tax. For the Epic version, you WILL need to cover additional taxes, or drop another 299K gold for another token.
Also, as your digital balance can’t be used in for physical items in the Blizzard Shop, keep in mind that you CANNOT purchase the physical Collector’s Edition via token redemption/gold.
Thank you for all the info! I have actually purchased WoW Tokens and redeemed them for game time a few times, I just never realized they could be used to add Blizzard Balance. I always save them for a couple of months and then redeem them from the character screen to re-activate my game time.
To get the Blizzard Balance option, I’d need to use them from my bags in game?
It does seem like an inefficient way to buy the xpac tho, I’m usually only able to buy one token per year.
gold>tokens> balance>expansion
Yep. Use them directly from your bags. If you run out of game time and then attempt to use them from the login screen, you won’t get that option to use one for account balance.
You’ll get a screen like this:

Cool, thank you very much!

Happily in Australia we aren’t taxed on that sort of thing.
Maybe you are playing classic? Then yes, they can only be redeemed for game time. Only tokens in retail can be redeemed for bnet balance.
Nope, playing retail, I just never tried using the tokens from my bag before. I would always save them and then use them from the character select screen to re-activate after my time ran out.
Buy a token. Convert it to Blizzard balance (It’s a “use” item). Buy expansion.
It’ll take you more than one token, of course, but that’s the general idea. However, the conversion rate would cause you to pay more for the expansion this way, so you’re better off just buying the expansion outright.
Generally speaking, you would spend gold you’ve earned naturally in game to buy things like this. Becoming an AH goblin or finding a really good farm somewhere is the best way. I had a good leather farm going in Legion a while back. I spent a lot of time on the AH back then too. I almost always had at least a million stashed away somewhere. Now I run pretty lean at only about 200k on my entire account. RL gets pretty busy lately and I just don’t have time to farm.
Yeah current price is around 310K. I used to have a website that tracked the fluctuation of the token but it hasn’t worked in a while and I haven’t looked for a different site yet (I was kinda hoping the one I use would get fixed. Also, I’m too lazy to look for a new one RN)
