How Do I Upgrade Necklace and Cloak?

I have been playing video games since I was a toddler in 1971, and have had a multitude of consoles and an awesome Amiga, but I wasn’t able to afford a proper gaming rig until a few months ago. Since then I have amassed around 100 AA+ games, but the majority of my gaming time is spent playing WoW because it is simply the best game ever made.

I started playing during Legion, and I soon created ten characters and eventually DPSed, tanked, healed, raided, and ran Mythic +10-15s. I quickly leveled everyone up in BFA, but now find myself in the rut of just doing an heroic dungeon and battleground with each toon every two days or so. My progress has been slow to get my toons to around ilvl 420-430 and I don’t know what to do next.

I would very much like to upgrade my Heart of Azeroth so I can shoot frikkin’ lasers out of it plus whatever other benefits there are, and I’d love to obtain the legendary apostrophe cloak, but I don’t know where to start. Wowhead and Icy Veins have been of little to no help, and Google search results have lead to no better information. Could someone please point me in the right direction to at least get the ball rolling towards these goals? I’m rapidly losing interest and I even question whether I will buy the new expansion and continue playing.

Have you already unlocked Nazjatar?

Boy, for someone that has supposedly played games for so long and claims WoW is the greatest ever made, I would have figured you would at least know how to gear your character up.

I’m pretty sure I haven’t, as I don’t even know what Nazjatar is.

Go to Genn on the Wind’s Redemption in Boralus. Should have a quest called “The Wolf’s Offensive” – this leads you to Nazjatar. Do the intro quests until Magni shows up, then follow his questline to unlock essences on your Heart of Azeroth.

After you’ve completed that, you’ll be sent back to Nazjatar. Take the portal from Nazjatar back to Boralus and you should get a pop-up from Magni for “An Unwelcome Visitor” and that starts the Alliance version of the legendary cloak storyline.

Based on your equipment, I gather you’ve already unlocked world quests at least, so…

Start from Step 4 here:

First off, there is no “supposedly” about it. You sound like you are accusing me of lying. Secondly, if I knew how to properly gear my character up I WOULDN’T BE ASKING THIS QUESTION, you sillyperson.

Thank you for wasting your time in making a completely unhelpful non-post. Snarky attitudes like yours lead to multiple players quitting WoW, and that is a dear price for Blizzard to pay to enjoy your continued business.

Aw, and here I was about to post everything that you needed. Oh well, here you go anyway even though you can’t take a joke:

Each part contains links to quests and whatnot.

I have not unlock world quests, at least on the toon I’m logged into right now, as my reputations are sadly neutral. But at least I know how to, and the seeds of progress have been sown.

Thank you.

What was the point in the backstory?

You’re welcome, and good luck out there.

There’s advertisements on my WoWhead pages for FF14 lol.

Cookies are fun.

To be fair, ZAM (formerly Allakhazam) runs Wowhead as well as several other game information databases, one of which is for FF14.

Yeah I know, I just find it amusing is all.

Edit: Not sure the point of a third party database for that game though since Square has their own.

It’s two sentences that introduce the next two paragraphs. It’s called writing. As in setting up otherwise mundane prose, like prefacing “See Jack run” with something like “Jack was a paraplegic, but then he received an experimental stem cell treatment.” Sorry to waste several seconds of you time.

Questions which may never truly be answered.

People have posted the links, so I’ll explain further for a fellow “older” gamer (and I hope I’m not being pendantic).

Basically you want to unlock Naz for immediate 50 neck, it isn’t as hard to get it up near 80 casually if you want to do that. Just do some islands for the weekly and pick up some azerite quests or kill, say, mechagon rares (which drop 100 azerite to kul tiras 30-40 or so) until you get it where you want it. I’m 77 or 78 now, the character is less than 2 weeks old, 80 is really where you want it because of the last stamina pip. Everything after that is just gravy imo, and if you do any of the things mentioned above you’ll probably be like me and find the necklace moves almost incidentally. 78-80 takes awhile, but is imo totally worth it.

Moving on to cloak. There are two big events per week in Vale (pandaria) and Uldum (south of Silithus, you can port to it with a cata portal), that between the two award a vessel pretty much. Getting any more vessels than that one is sort of grindy. Your first 4 upgrades after completing the initial quest (2-5) simply require you to down the main boss, which takes a matter of a few minutes, if you aren’t a hunter like me prepare to possibly use CC. I freeze one of thralls guards anyway though I’ve broke it accidentally before and still downed them. Hunter beasts visions very very well compared to the only other class I’ve tried a rogue. Rogues appear to need to play almost pvp like with saps and stuns, I could never seem to get it down.

Just don’t be like me and whiff on upgrade 6 because you didn’t read the quest text and went straight to main boss again. Upgrade 6 is in a bonus objective, I think Mother can explain it to you. I’m not there yet because I’m still kind of tilted I lost a vision by completing it too quickly. If you’re like me and tend to skim or skip quest text, just remember every time wrathion asks for a new book or whatever the objectives change. There’s the map to tell you where to go.

Hope this helps and wasn’t too redundant to what’s already in the thread. I’d personally limit to one vision a week unless you’re really feeling it or need it for progression, those 2 weekly events give you a vision about 15 times quicker than running the dailies will. You’ll also only get a single piece of gear a week (maybe more with bonus objectives, I’m yet to try it), so once a week seems like enough for me.

Good luck out there!
