So I’ve got this great little fox shaman. She’s adorable.
… every now and then when I’m healing she turns into some sort of gross blue hood guy. How the hell do i turn it off? It’s dreadful, completely against the personality of the character, and I’d frankly rather have no visual transformation for ascendance at all if this is my only option. I’m a bit new to retail, is there like a transmog item or an inscription thing or what? Anything to stop her from randomly turning into weird blue guy

However, they are putting in new models for the Ascendence form soon, depending on your spec.
Yeah I saw those. They’re so distasteful to me that I think they’ll ruin the character so completely that I’d just rather not play. Reminds me of the hideous reworked tree form they forced every resto druid into during wotlk.
You could simply not take that talent. Ascendance is spec’d into.
That is one of THE most terrible reasons not to play a Shaman I’ve ever seen, but you do you.
Shaman is in probably the best place it’s been in years, and you’d rather not play it because of how you look while transformed in a single ability that only lasts for a few seconds.

Playing against the Class Fantasy which is partially about Ascendance, the Ascended for Shamans is quite literally the closest thing you can get to being a Elemental as it can get (And within our right to play as one, without reprocussions). Going against that Class Fantasy is…uhh, backwards… Coming from RPing in general, people who play certain classes often write it off as OOC and not part of their character at the very least, or in most cases, do not play that class because it doesn’t fit the personality of the character. So, w/e it is you have for yours, it sure isn’t in line in being a Shaman unfortunately unless you can figure out some twists or curves for why to accept it or write it off as OOC.
character appearance matters to me a lot and they shouldn’t mutate my character into something gross looking lol
this was a HUGE issue until Blizzard decided to fix it. You still have ascendance model but you can now choose if you want a helmet on or crazy hair.
Unfortunately Blizz doesn’t understand the class fantasy of the shaman, so we got this luke warm transformation that tries to satisfy the fantasy but fail to do so, especially for non humanoid races.
With a game full of beast-men and primal races, we deserve a minor glyph to not turn into an ascendant which was a rushed and poorly explained transformation.
There’s no good ingame lore for even turning into one, they’ve always been forceful villains, so the new model helps kind of steer the image in a more neutral direction (looking more elemental like instead of a twilight cultist) but it’s still not enough, we need our classic minor glyph back.
They used to have a glyph in WoD that fixes this issue perfectly but they removed it in Legion and haven’t communicated about it since.
If you don’t want to transform, don’t take Ascendance talents. I don’t want to transform (except into Ghost Wolf), so I don’t take Ascendance talents.
No Shamans deserve the Astral Form treatment, since we already had our Minor Glyph which was taken away when Ascendance became a talent. Now you can glyph talents it’s not an excuse.
Gameplay and strategy wise, competitively you sometimes need to spec for a burst window talent build, and a non transformation build usually means you skip out on what is your ultimate ability. (which is useful to stack during a pump)
If you dont want to transform, either nerf yourself or dont play shaman.
that’s not how feedback works, I bet you weren’t even around when we had a glyph to not transform, it was called [Minor Glyph of Ascendance] and it only got removed when we had a revamp to our abilities and it became a talent. (talents couldn’t be glyphed at the time)

Its my feedback on dealing with the “shapeshift” of ascendance.
If you dont want to shapeshift, you have two options. Nerf yourself, or dont play shaman.
You left out the option that many players use everyday, which is submitting feedback on ways the game could be improved for them.
For example, a very popular request - bring back Glyph of Ascendance.
You appear to be one of those get off my lawn grouches who just hates any sort of change whatsoever. Where are you off to next? A thread where shaman are asking for better mobility to tell them to roll a more mobile class?
I would question anyone asking for more shaman mobility.
While a specific spec may need more, as elemental, for example, my mobility is quite high.
So if you ask for change, that means you no longer change into ascendance form again?
Elemental only became mobile after we begged and begged for years to return Gust of Wind.
How is asking for the return of a minor glyph they took away as well any different? Use some logic.
