I finally finished leveling all my bajillion alts (yay!) and I picked my new endgame main for now. Not too familiar with all the DF world events because I’ve just been focused on leveling. How do I start gearing him? Should I just dungeon grind? Or do those storm things? Something else?
Crafted gear, storm gear, weekly quests, world boss, Mythic+, and LFR are great options for getting started.
Crafted gear can’t be converted to tier - so take that into consideration when having pieces made.
Ya just remember if you want to get crafted gear to 415-418 you have to do Mythic 16+ for Concentrated Primal Focus. It may drop in other places but that’s not going to be something until you grind for a long time.
Crafted gear can’t be tier gear but it gets embellishments as a little treat
If you are new to the game I want you to take your time and enjoy yourself. First play Dungeons non stop, as much as you can and quest for pvp while your doing that. Max out to 1500 honor and you can purchase pvp gear for a decent boost. As you que for both you should successfully shuffle into ques as when you enter an instance the other one is still a waiting que so you get bumped up to the top of the line after an instance is over. When it comes to dungeons play until you get to heroic then keep doing those dungeons until you have a full heroic set. By this time you should have a pretty decent hang of your character and now your ready for mythic keys. All you have to do from there is start off with a 0. If at the end of the week look for a 0 that has a mount loot chance by the end of it. You’ll take in some high lvl mount farmers that will carry the instance from there. After that you get a key and once you get a key above lvl 7 it will be harder to get people to join you but don’t let that get you down. Good luck! Don’t forget to que for raid finder as well during your quest shuffles! And don’t forget your vault every Tuesday. Sorry to drop so much info but I hope it helps you!
Right now is a good time to just Jump from the 380’s into M+ 2 because people want Bonus Valor from bumping your IO, so spam requests into those places after you get a world quest or entry level set of some kind.
look at your adventure guide and look at the loot that drops from various dungeons to fill in the pieces you need to get into heroics. do those until you get yourself close to 459. run LFR vault raid each week. the fights are not too difficult to learn.
The world quests often drop surprisingly good gear for ~10 minutes of time. scan the world quests each time you log on.
eventually you will accumulate enough primals and whatever to have a couple of big items crafted. My crafting preferences are usually weapons and jewelry. I feel like they drop less and have the biggest bang for the buck.
once your gear is ~459/lfr range, run M0. those groups are not that hard to get into and they are only a bit harder than heroics.
check for timewalking opportunities. those drop 459 gear and the dungeons are super qcuik (too quick?)
also, check the weekly quest giver outside the valdraxxus auction house. sometimes you can spend an hour doing pretty easy stuff and get 482-489 gear, or something like that.
after all that, it is rinse/repeat… and then it is how high you want to push your gear.
to be honest, im enjoying what I consider to be one of each: 1 tank, 1 healer, 1 melee dps and 1 ranged dps. none of their gear levels have hit 400 yet, but I just play what I want when I want. I just bop around in m2-m10 or LFR depending on the toon i want to run and my mood on any given day.
someone else said to look at the great vault. if you run 4 m+2, you get 2 pieces to choose from. if you run 8 m+2, you get 3 from which to pick. also if you down 6 bosses in the vault raid you can get another 2 pieces. down all eight and I think you get to pick from 3. i suggest at least frou m+2 runs and at least wings 1 and 2 of the vault raid. the last boss can require some patience. the mehcanics do matter in LFR, but as time goes on, more people understand the fight.
If you are really focused on one toon, you can get your gear up there pretty quickly. good luck.
