How do I rogue? Brand new to the class (M+/pve)

I’ve never had a max level rogue and I’ve been enjoying leveling one. Are there some good videos on Outlaw/Sin for pve? Those are the two specs I’m mainly interested in.

Both are good.
Choose with your guts

Outlaw is very very fast pace and requires quite some speed in end game! But it’s fun and very rewarding no doubt!

Sub is probly gonna be fun too if you din’t know it before now. (Easier to get use to that spec if you havent experienced it before the new changes)

You can find some very good videos on youtube/google, just go with the recent reviews, 10.2+ and most popular tubers : And chances are you’l get good advice!

Sin is currently miles ahead of outlaw in Single Target, but in M+ outlaw is a lot of fun

True that.
I would place Sin be4 Sub atm.

But Sin was out of the OP choices…
The post is about Law v.s. Sub.
You Could even have advised DH at this point

Actually it is between Outlaw and Assassination. I don’t know why but I don’t have any interest in Sub.

I’m not sure I have much interest in raiding right now. Just quick in and out M+.

Outlaw is better for M+?

By the looks of it, yes. I don’t play sub/sin myself so this is basically what I see in community interest and what other rogues that do multi-spec feel like. That said, you might get annoyed with some elements of outlaw until you get 4pc, but you can always fall back to another spec if you enjoy those.

Sin is ahead of both outlaw and sub

Outlaw is easier in mplus. Sin doesn’t really shine until higher keys because of trash not living very long.

Both are fun though.

We’ll see where Sin is at after the nerfs but I think it has it all - easy to pick up, great damage profile, bursty as heck ST and a great playstyle.

Outlaw is def a bit more challenging to pick up but can definitely do similar and/or better damage than Sin depending on the comp/dungeon/fight.

For assassination, I HIGHLY recommend the guides on Wowhead. Whispyr is a diligent spokesperson for us and puts in a lot of work to provide reliable guidance. It will mean a small amount of reading, experimenting, more reading, more experimenting, but it is worth it. The recent rework assassination got (including the 10.2 tier set bonuses) showed Blizzard were listening to community feedback (we didn’t get everything we were hoping for, but we got a lot, and that’s something worth appreciating).

Don’t expect instant results. No rogue spec is faceroll. They all require active play and situational alertness to do well. Tier sets will make a big difference. Stats on gear make a big difference (assassination priority as of 12/5/23 is agility > mastery > crit > haste > versatility).

Anyway, the overall point is, I’ve been main rogue since Burning Crusade, and have been playing assassination since they torpedoed Combat a LONG time ago, and I am having enough fun with it that I don’t usually feel curious about whether the grass is greener in another class’ yard, so to speak. Give it a chance, hopefully you feel the payback in fun is worth the time spent. But if it isn’t for you, that’s ok, too. Rogue play style isn’t for everyone
