How do i pug a raid in wow?

Hello community

I’ve been playing wow since march of this year and currently i have a toon of each class, level 70 and gear 400.

I come from SWTOR i have played that MMO for 10 years, when i want to pug a SM operation i just take a look at the general chat and joined a random group easy.

How that works in WOW? im not a guild guy, im not a hard mode either, pretty much a story mode one but i havent found where do i need to go to pug a group? is that possible here? On group finder i can only find the latest 2 raids which i know they are not easy.

I want to start doing the easy ones (the oldest i guess) just like the group finder dungeons some are new and on special weeks there are old ones too ALL puggable.

Older ones will be in Premade Groups under Raids-Legacy although all of them won’t be on there. A lot can be solo’ed so groups aren’t necessary. You can just walk in the raid entrance by yourself and do them pretty easy.

As Zigstur said, most older raids (at least two expansions back) can be completed solo. Some have mechanics that require multiple players still (the boss named Eonar in the Antorus raid from Legion comes to mind).

To solo a raid, you have to:

  1. Fly to the entrance (you’ll have to physically walk in, unlike queued instances)
  2. Go to Premade Groups, “Start a Group” in the “Custom” category, and make it private (little checkbox at bottom-right)
  3. Right-click your character portrait and pick “Convert to Raid” so you can walk in

You could choose not to make it private but most players are focused on the current raid (Aberrus the Shadowed Crucible), so you might have a LONG wait looking for others to do the older content with you.

As an aside, if you’re concerned that the latest raid is not easy, just do the queued version under Raid Finder (also referred to as LFR). You can queue for “wings” that only deal with 2-3 bosses at a time (1 for the last wing), which can give you a very loose idea of what a Normal Riad would be like. Once you’ve done LFR, you could progress to Normal, and then on to Heroic. If you just want the story/cutscenes, the LFR difficulty might be all you need to do.

Hey! Welcome aboard fellow Old Republic player!

If you need help with any old raids, just let us know and we’ll do our best to answer questions. Unfortunately, WoW doesn’t have story mode, but old raids up until Battle for Azeroth are pretty easy to solo.

Most recent doesn’t always correlate to most difficult.

Aberrus is on the easier side and for LFR, you might be able to get in before 2024 because there is little to no incentive for people to queue for Vault LFR.

LFR is pretty much the story mode difficulty while normal and heroic require incrementally more personal responsibility.

You can que for the normal current raid easily. Everything else you’ll be looking at Tuesday or Saturday fills as this is when the collectors and farmers are most likely to sign up, in my experience. :dracthyr_comfy_sip:

You dont. Just do casual easy content for top gear.

Starting with TBC (Outlands) you should probably start with zangarmarsh and netherstorm questlines followed by tempest keep and serpentshrine caverns.

Cataclysm is interesting, I’d suggest mount hyjal questlines and firelands (on cataclysm timewalking you can join a group through the groupfinder and receive level cap loot)

Mists of pandaria unlocking isle of thunder and doing throne of thunder would be my first suggestion. Although dread wastes and heart of fear / siege of orgrimmar is interesting as well.

A lot of the other raids are sourced more from past stories wc1/2/3 and if you care for the story more than the content (you’re going to insta kill most raid bosses from previous expansions) its harder to get the full immersion compared to the raids I mentioned.

I think at 400 you might want to use raid finder option… i think 400 might be a little too low for normal specially this late in the season … but when you do get up there use group finder and premade groups to find a raid
