How do i politely convince the raid officers that using loot council as an AOTC guild is silly?

so my guild is doing plans for 10.1 raiding and the subject of loot came up. 6 out of 8 officers voted for loot council and i thought it was silly.

i wanted to say something but i didn’t want to sound like i was overstepping since i only joined recently (~3 weeks ago) so i just kept quiet.

At the beginning of the season, my guild was plagued by people that would get a couple of items and then leave the guild, so we started using RCLootCouncil. Now that hardly anyone actually needs most of the drops in the raid, we stopped using it. We’ll start using it again in S2. My RL doesn’t just play favorites. He takes situations into account, like if such and such person really needs a specific trinket and it never dropped, but finally dropped after like 3 months, that person would get the trinket probably, if they actually showed up to raids regularly. However, with loot council, little Billy, who never shows up to raids except for the one time that a really cool weapon dropped, is probably not going to get said really cool weapon.

I guess deal or get the boot lol.

What about if your AOTC guild is stretched to their limit each patch to get AOTC? Then where loot goes is important for the guild’s goals. If it’s only silly to 2 out of 8 then it’s not silly.

I mean at the end of the day it’s about what most people want. If it’s not your cup of tea but everybody else is fine with it then the play is probably to find another group of people to play with.

Are you an officer? If not and you don’t like it, find another guild.

Just quit, there are other guilds out there that don’t use it.

It doesn’t sound like you’ve been with this group of people long enough to really know if this is a silly application for them, or not. If you personally just don’t like loot councils, that’s fine, but I don’t think you have an informed opinion for the guild as a whole (past histories, etc.).

Loot council is good if…

If your team is not class stacking / armor stacking / token stacking ect.

They might be changing some tier tokens to be all classes? Idk if I saw that right or not.

Like yeah there could be 2-3 DH in my group which is not BiS but it could be worse.

Since you just joined them you weren’t there the entire tier to see what may have happened for them to go to a loot council system. They may have had just a need/greed system and found people won the rare items then left the team.

I’d suggest asking what led to the change first before taking any negative actions.

I mean it’s fine. My guild has the issue where people will need on an upgrade, and then something ever so slightly better will drop later in the raid so they’ll roll on that too even if they already got the previous loot. We’ve had loot go to waste that way.

We imposed a rule of “don’t equip anything until the end of raid unless you know for certain it’s BiS, so you can trade it if you win something better later”. But if your guild wants to do a loot council to solve the same problem, more power to them.

Loot council is silly for an aotc guild when M+ and the vault exists.

type /gquit that’s what i did and never looked back

Why would you waste your time with a guild like that? I am pretty sure heroic gear is going to be obsoleted in a week with the upgrade system, m+ and the vault.

You can probably get AOTC easier in a pug.

Not at all.

Yea, generally makes sense to give the highest damage boost items to people who perform the best first, since they’ll get more mileage out of it faster
