Loremaster achieve awaits for you , might take you a few months or year have fun
Do the expansions in order, but put a pause on xp sometime before you hit level 60 otherwise you’ll get taken out of Chromie time. Mid 50’s maybe?
Hi hi - huge lore nerd here.
Frankly - the best way to start is…without any pressure, y’know?
Ive been getting a character to max level so I can go back and revisit old quest lines I like - this way I’ve got the choice to fly, don’t have to worry about being under leveled for an encounter.
Sometimes though, if you want the struggle, go in with poor quality gear, it makes things tough, but not too tough.
To get the full story, you’ll need an alliance and a horde character. With a blood elf and a Draenei, you can see quest lines referencing events prior to the cataclysm. If you wanna go chronologically for the rest,
- Burning crusade. Outland. Start in Hellfire peninsula, and work your way through it.
- Wrath of the Lich king. Smash through those zones and raids. Enjoy the whole of it.
- Go through EK and Kalimdor. You’ve caught up to the cataclysm by now. Basically just try to finish each zone and follow the breadcrumb trail of quests to the next one. You’ll also be able to do the cataclysm specific zones. If you’re a rogue, you can do the fangs of the father legendary quest.
- Mists of Pandaria - work through that opening quest, and carry on with the reputations and weekly quests. There’s a ton of rewards that’ll honestly help your overall gameplay experience.
- Warlords of Draenor. The jankiest of the bunch - but if you pace yourself it can be enjoyable.
- Legion. There’s so much to do here it’s a bit overwhelming. Each class has its own separate quest line - I’ve done most of them. I’d recommend the Paladin, Death Knight, and Rogue ones to start - but they’re all wonderful. Lots of cool moments. :3
7)Battle for Azeroth. This is the last expac so far with Horde/Alliance specific questlines. Tbh it may be a fun romp if you go through it all now! - Shadowlands - Oogh. There’s…a lot to unpack here - and a lot of unanswered questions. Frankly it’s kinda skippable but you do get important character arc resolutions.
To be clear, this journey you are about to undertake will be long - but I hope enjoyable. To get the full story too, remember that each expac has questlines for each patch released in its lifetime, all of which are important for the overall story.
Except 6.1. We don’t talk about 6.1.
There’s also in-game books and scrolls that give you even more info. :3
You’ll (area) level cap before you do because xp gains will outpace the story by a wide margin.
there is alot of content on youtube that explore the lore. several good content creators.
TBH i just stick with wowpedia whenever i have a question about something. They even have a chronological timeline you can click through.
Sylvannas did nothing wrong
All interesting lore takes place outside of the game in books. Better off reading those than playing the game if the lore is what you want.
(11) The Story of Warcraft - Full Version 2.0 [Lore] - YouTube
This guy is great for that.
where? I need to find my people.
In 10.1.5 Chromie time will now end at 61, so 60 is probably the best spot starting in a week or so.
Wait, 6.1, the Garrisons Update patch? I don’t remember what specific story shenanigans happened, why don’t we talk about it?
Wait was it 6.1 or 6.2 that was the selfie camera patch
Wowhead says 6.1 for selfie camera, but 6.2 was the last content patch for WoD.
Watch youtube lore videos.
I hate to say it but its really the only way to get all of the lore in one place that makes any sense. To much of it is missing from the game and is in books instead. A lot of in game lore is also broken up so its hard to know whats going on.
Moo!
I KNEW IT!
Yeah nothing like rolling off of patch 5.4, Seige of Orgrimmar, with a rocking campaign, excellent raid, and wonderful setup for the next expansion,
For your first major patch to give you Twitter integration, a selfie camera, and a handful of quests.
Step 1: get all the old warcraft games.
Step 2, get audible and download the books in chronological order.
Step 3: play old games in order and wow, while listening to audible
I suppose you could visit Caverns of Time, Pandaria Cho and read a lot of WoWhead/ WoW wiki
I go down some serious rabbit holes with lore there.
Watching videos on YT would probably be the best. Like Nobbel
Reading the books, I found Chronicles to be so captivating i loved it. Even if it is not cannon anymore, it is still super relevant. Basically the closest thing to “history of warcraft” that we have
Then you can play some of the dungeons, quests and raids in game that match up with the lore from the videos or books
