How do I learn Gnomish Engineering?

I am level 52 now, and my engineering is at 235/300, but I can’t seem to find the Gnomish Engineering quest. Oglethorpe Obnoticus does not have a quest for me, nor do any of the other engineering trainers. Am I missing something?

The guy’s in Booty Bay.

If it’s not 225 req skill maybe it’s 250.

But you are trying to get it in Booty Bay right?

Yes, his name is Oglethorpe Obnoticus in Booty Bay. The guides all say he should have the quest at engineering lvl 200, so I figured at 235 I should definitely be able to get it. I’ll level engineering to 250 and try again, but it doesn’t make much sense that you can’t get it until 250 since Inlaid Mithril Cylinder is a gnomish engineering item that is supposed to be able to be crafted at lvl 205.

From the guide on Classic WoWhead:

Upon reaching level 30 and reaching 200 Engineering skill, players can pick up the quest Gnome Engineering from multiple Engineering trainers

So…you need to go to an engineering trainer for the quest stub.

Oooh, this sounds promising, too.

Just a heads up when you figure this out, the Soothsaying book is in in Tanaris.

You could make all the Gnomish BoPs and read the book and than go Goblin without having to completely relearn Engineering.

Are you horde?

If so, you need to go to undercity. There is an npc near the engi trainers that will give you the quest to choose gnomish/goblin.

Nope. Im 250 now and none of the engineering trainers in org or booty bay will give me this quest. I’m headed to Undercity now at Cagie’s recommendation.

I seem to recall getting the choice between Gnomish & Goblish from an engineering trainer in IF, back in the day. Have you spoken to the Master/Artisan engineering trainer there, in Tinkertown? Of course, this only applies to Alliance, I never did Engineering on the Horde side…
