How do I learn Gnomish engineering now?

I have it on older characters but was away awhile and the new crafting system is a bit confusing how do I learn it now.

I picked up Engineering for Vanilla and Cata and level them a bit just trying to figure out what I need to be doing to get that unlocked.There’s a particular item I’m looking to craft that requires it.

I’m at the trainer he has no such quest

Once you get to the right engineering level (200?) in classic / vanilla engineering you will see a quest for it at the trainer in Ironforge or Stormwind (not 100% on the SW one).

If you already have a specialization you need to drop it first. Ranumn’s link is perfect.

I had the same issue on my Paladin. I leveled Classic Engineering all the way to 300 thinking i’d get the quest somehow and it didn’t work! I didn’t see the quest at all. I had no specialization either.

I leveled him a bit, He’s level 20 rn, I got the quest! I just needed to Level him since he was level 13 earlier.

So if anyone has this issue, and your character is really low level, (like under level 15 or level 20 or so) your character’s level is most likely the problem.

Don’t know the issue the OP is facing, but check if your engineering skill is too low and if you already have a profession specialization. If you tried everything, Open a ticket.
