How do I get rid of this squally bird? I have no interest in collecting companions, but t his seems to be mandatory. I just want it to go away and there is nothing I can find to make it go away.

It’s a minipet in your pet collection. Just dismiss it if you no longer want it hanging around.

How do I get this squally bird? I picked up the quest on a Remix alt, so I can’t do the quest but I worry that if I delete the quest the game’s gonna be stupid and not give it to me again.

There is no way to dismiss it. There is no “Gryphons of a feather” in my quest log. To abandon. I just want the annoying thing to go away. Why do they do this? Log in to play, but nooo, figure how to get rid of this junk.

open your pet journal, search for Squally, highlight it, then click dismiss in the bottom of the window.

Having to dismiss from the pet journal is kind of annoying. I miss the old system sometimes. 
What happened is I was using an add on “Blizz move.” The Dismiss button wasn’t there. I turned off that add on and found it. Thank you for the help.

Have you seriously not used a minipet before? As Annastasi and I said, it’s a pet in your journal/collections. Either put the icon on your bar and click it to summon/dismiss, or alternatively do it from the icon in your jounal.

No, I don’t use companions. I know some people like them, but I have no interest in that. A few times on anniversaries I’ve tried them, but then you could click on their icon and dismiss them. People play for different reasons. I’m all about function. I don’t care about appearances or companions. If I can fly on it I don’t care what it looks like. If I can get it to repair my gear or sell to it, I don’t care what it looks like. If it is a higher gear level, I don’t care what it looks like 
People are different. I’m all about function. Exception was my Shadow Priest. I bought the glyph to get rid of all that purple smoke. Not to show off my gear, but because it was giving me an ocular migraine when I flew with it.
Assuming it’s programmed like the quests for the armor, it should one of those “appears in the log of every character” quests.
The quest is pretty easy. Just give in to the cute pets and collect them. It’s not like any of them are dreadlords just waiting for you to fall asleep…

Its probably the quest that blizz makes you do. I just accepted it and followed it until it was having me collect the quest items. Goid thing is anything you kill in dragon isles, dungeons, and raids drop what you need automatically. I just takes up a quest slot. Im working on the quest automatically and i got the bird to go away, i just had to accept the quest to do so.
I couldn’t dismiss it on my Remix toon, but summoning a random pet got rid of it.

I’m more concerned with you… no one calls them mini pets
You should be able to dismiss it, since it is a battle pet.
