By the time you’d need to pop the FaP everyone gets sent down to the sleep realm.
Before P2 (35%) the sleep realm picks the 2 closest players to the boss who haven’t gone yet. So if it’s picking you then either you do not have very many melee or the fight is taking a while.
During P2 everyone gets sent to the sleep realm simultaneously so you don’t have to worry about that.
It is helpful. If you guys are going long enough where your FAP is expiring and time after that, there simply isn’t enough damage happening. This boss is killable with like 5 people.
Nah, best advice is to wait until he fully transforms to his full size during P2, then pop it.
He isn’t immune to kicks until he’s big, regardless of what his HP is actually at.
If you get lucky and he starts casting a Mind Blast at like 35.5% you can dps him down to like 32-33% before he transforms, giving a decent headstart on the final phase.
As a caster you shouldn’t get sent to the sleep realm before P2 - just keep yr distance from the boss and move out of the shadow circles…
I mostly heal and usually dont need a fap… just use a shadow protection potion.
In my guild we always one shot - but ive done a few pugs on healer alts and seen the mess that can happen… major problems seem to be people not interrupting the big damage spell (makes healing a nightmare), tanks moving inappropriately, people not having consumables, low dps and priests not dispelling quickly enough. With reasonable dps I’ve found having 3 healers (eg a mage or druid who swaps to healing) makes the fight incredibly easy.
Which stack? Ranged or melee? Kelris sends down the 2 closest to him. My team has one set of 2 go down and phase 2 starts while the second team is already down. Casters shouldnt even come close unless you dont have much melee.
You’re just closer than the other ranged after the all the melee have gone down and get selected, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In some runs I’ve done if we were light on melee we actually planned for the lock to go down after the melee.
It really shouldn’t affect your DPS that greatly. Just make sure you’re looking for the portal as soon as it spawns. Seen some people keep killing stuff because they didn’t see the portal.
The best way to learn how to improve is to understand how the mechanics of things work. Here are some factoids:
Mindblast will always hit the closest target, regardless of threat.
Kelris will occasionally sleep the closest 2 people who have not already been slept.
Kelris will not re-cast sleep if there is still at least 1 person in the sleep realm.
Kelris will begin to transition to phase 2 at 35%, during phase 2 he is immune to interrupts.
FAP only makes you immune to the debuff application of shadow chains, this is because shadow chains is a slowing effect (FAP makes you immune to slows). It does not prevent other forms of damage.
FAP does NOT remove shadow chains, it only prevents it being applied.
Shadow chains is empowered and lasts a lot longer if it is cast in P2.
Shadow chains CAN be dispelled in both P1 and P2, but your healers are probably low mana and stressed enough in P2.
He doesn’t cast shadow chains immediately in P2.
Using this knowledge, if you are FAPing instead of shadow proting, you should use your FAP a few seconds into P2. Using it before P2 is a waste. You still need to spread out to prevent the shadow chains jumping to nearby players
If I am playing melee, I personally prefer to use a shadow pot, as this prevents damage from mind blast, any shadow crashes i may be forced to run through, and like half of the shadow chains damage. It also doesn’t expire after 30 seconds.
There is nothing alleged about it, he will always sleep the closest 2 people who have not already been slept. This is guaranteed, as such, you can plan who the first 2 or 3 groups of people who get sent down are to ensure there is always at least 1 tank + kicker available.
