How do I find rares in Mechagon?

How do I find rares in Mechagon, with groups of players fighting them? I’m just starting out in Mechagon.

It’s helpful to download addons that show you the location and spawn timers of rares in the zone. Otherwise, they’re usually called out in general chat along with their coordinates, if you want to try and find them that way. Nothing special you have to do beforehand. Just show up and kill it.

You unlock flying like the rest of us so you can get to them before they are dead. Huehuehue

There is an add on called Rarescanner which is very handy for that, it also shows when chests appear. And it can be adjusted to show as little as you want in the various BfA zones (eg if you fly back into Tirgarde for example, you may not want it to broadcast every rare that you fly near).

It is sadly a fact that if you don’t have flight, you will find it harder to get to them before everyone kills them. If you can get to an active station and pick up the flying pack, thats a big help. Otherwise you will need to camp the locations and be patient, or hope they spawn nearby.

If you use the addon called Rarefinder I would strongly suggest you put focus on killing a rare called Rustfeather as he has a chance on dropping a blueprint to make your own Anti-Gravity packs. Which will make it much easier to get around the map since most players have flying at this point. One special Note you can only kill the rares once per day but I would guess the droprate for his blueprint is 25-50% and Rustfeather spawns 30-60minutes.

You going to need two things.

  1. Luck and lots of it.
  2. Hope it not dead before you get there.
    I use rare finder. I never used a addon before. I gave up and got it. I still only get about 15% or so.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The forum may be full of trolls and complainers, but it also has people who help other players.

Tomtom (the addon) has one for rares that I use but its a little un-intuitive imo. Better than nothing though.

Get to know where the rares spawn and their names so that when its announced in chat, you’ll know to start running. You probably don’t have flying yet, which is going to slow you down a ton. Perhaps stick to the ones that are easiest to reach, keep making loops looking for boxes and waiting for rares.

I was considering asking if anyone needed a ride to the rares while I was floating about. Maybe ask if there’s any rare hunting groups (or group finder) that can give ya a lift? GL :slight_smile:

You see big stars, on the map, where the rares are. Mousing over the stars shows their name, as well as the special thing they drop (blue print, etc.) Clicking on the star then does the tomtom in game direction arrow, with the distance (setting it up as a tom tom point.)

The newest one added a couple more stars, of things I did not know about (but are evidently really rare?) in the upper right by where crazy trogg spawns.
It also added a new big icon, with swords or something, to replace the star when you are near and the mob is “actually up.” That is kind of a cool reminder.

Once I got flying, now I hardly miss a rare that someone announces :wink:

Download the addon Rarescanner. It will let you know when and where all the rares and the chests are. Also, farm the rare Rustfeather for the jet pack blueprints. This will allow you to make personal jet packs and fly around the island.
